"You're never gonna love me
So what's the use?"
Daphne knew that Jason will never love her back. Sure, they have a complicated relationship, but they aren't A THING. And yes, they kissed, but Jason was drunk when it happened. He sure doesn't remember a thing, and Daphne can't just simply ask him. She can't do that, it would just be awkward. Everybody thinks they are together, and everybody knows they would be a perfect couple. Even Daphne knows it. But Jason doesn't.
Don't take me wrong, Jason is a wonderful guy. He is cute and funny, and very kind. He isn't, what would you say, "perfect" looking, but he's not ugly eighter.
And Daphne? Daphne is pretty, but not too pretty. She's good, but not good enough. She works really hard to impress Jason, you know? She doesn't give a damn about how she looks around other people, but when Jason's around, she'll do anything to look good. But hopeless, Jason never looks at her.
Lately, Daphne stopped trying.
"What's the point in playing
A game you're gonna lose?"
Daphne knew that Jason is never gonna see her in that way. She knew that, if Daphne told Jason how she felt, it would ruin their friendship. It would make it awkward and embarrasing for Daphne.
Daphne didn't want to lose Jason as a friend. She knew that, if she tried, she could lose it all.
"What's the point in saying
You love me like a friend?"
And Jason has been told a few times that he should try. Try to work on that thing they have. Make it better.
But he didn't.
And all Daphne wanted to hear is Jason saying that he loves her. Of course, he said it a lot of times, but like a friend. Daphne wanted him to tell her that he loved her, and she wanted to know he really means it this way.
"What's the point in saying
It's never gonna end?"
And they both knew they were going to be friends for life. That kind of friend you only find in a lifetime. And now a biggest fight, a biggest storm couldn't break them appart.
"It's gonna last forever" they said multiple times. But, this friendship thing, Daphne worried it's never gonna end.
"You're too proud to say that you made a mistake
You're a coward 'til the end"
And Jason had a girlfriend. And she cheated on him. Sure did Daphne hate her. She hurt Jason. Daphne wanted to rip her ugly face off. But Daphne didn't.
Daphne sure did tell Jason that he made a mistake. Daphne knew how his girlfriend was. And Daphne sure did pick on Jason afterwards.
But Jason never did admit that he made a mistake. He was just to proud. He was hurt, also. Too hurt to believe that it really happened.
"I don't wanna admit
But we're not gonna fit"
By the time Daphne knew Jason is never gonna love her, she knew he wasn't just the right for her. They are different, and they work as friends, but they wouldn't work as a couple. But still, Daphne wanted him. More than anything.
"No, I'm not the type that you like
Why don't we just pretend?"
And they always said "Differences attract each other". And really , two totally different people worked perfecty as friends.
