"What's wrong?" Draco asked, stopping before Sam. His voice filled the darkness.
Sam squinted her eyes against the pitch black abyss behind her. She swore she saw someone follow them as they crawled through the tunnels leading to the Shrieking Shack. Is Hagrid already aware of their nightly activities and is now following them?
After a moment of eerie silence, Sam turned her head back to her brother.
Shaking her head no, she asked, "How's Hamish?"
Hamish was ahead of them. Followed by Crabbe and Goyle. Draco stayed quiet as they went on all fours. The underground passage became wider, enabling them to straighten up.
They could hear Hamish's agonizing groans. He was turning and Sam knew their new batch of potion didn't work.
As they successfully climbed through the trapdoor, Hamish was no longer in the basement. "Where's Hamish, Crabbe?"
Crabbe looked around. "I don't know. I thought he would wait for us."
And then they could make out a restrained howling outside the wooden shack.
"Fuck," Sam cursed as they made a run towards the noise. Good thing, the place outside was deserted with lots of dried tall wheat grass covering them from Hogsmeade. But there at the center, Hamish kneeled, struggling. His face was somehow elongated, about to turn into a wolf's. The moon above them shone to its fullest.
"Hamish, please, remember who you are!" Draco screamed at him, a flask in his hand. "I know you're still in there, please, you need to drink more of the potion."
Draco tossed the flask on the ground, rolling towards where Hamish was now crouching. His right arm had now changed into the size of a tree trunk.
"Hamish, drink up!" Goyle called.
Samantha froze as Hamish's arm smashed the flask beside him and the liquid spilled everywhere.
"What's wrong, Draco?" Samantha asked, her wand at the ready. "Why is it not working?"
"I dunno. He's already taken three dosages already," Draco stammered. "I swear it was the same mixture we did before."
"Oh, it's that Moaning Myrtle! I knew she's been messing with the potion when we're not around," Goyle said, his voice breaking.
Then Hamish or the werewolf turned his head towards their direction. This is it, Sam thought. We're gonna get eaten by Hamish.
"What should we do?" Draco asked, while slowly stepping back. "Attack him?"
Then the werewolf suddenly leaped at them. Samantha quickly flicked her wand and casted, "Expelliarmus!"
And the werewolf was thrown in the air, hitting the ground with a thud.
"If he's fully turned, Draco, Disarming Charms wouldn't work anymore," Sam warned, clutching the collar of her brother's shirt.
Finally, they could hear Hamish's whines as he slowly shifted back to a skinny human figure. They all ran to his aid.

Later that night, Sam and Draco took a detour towards the haunted bathroom to get a word with Myrtle. Sam had her doubts but it would be impossible to say Myrtle had done something wrong to the potion. Sure, she was always toying with them. But she also knew her limits.
"I told you I didn't do any!" Moaning Myrtle screeched, throwing random things everywhere. "If you have been careful enough to remember that aconite plants have an expiry date!"
