CHAPTER 1 - REINDEER

I inhale the fresh scent of the forest as I stand at the edge of a branch. I feel the breeze through my unruly hair.

I relax my shoulders and enjoy the high of the adrenaline in my body. I signal Noah a thumbs up. He sighs and tightens his grip on the rope.

I know the kind of angle I need to be at, to shoot my arrow at the sweet spot of the beautiful reindeer and allow it a clean painless death.

So I take the leap of faith with nothing but the bow, arrow and the blind trust I have in Noah, hoping and praying that my calculations are right.

I spread my arms, jump and dive down. I feel myself gravitating towards the ground.

I place my hands in front of me as I pierce through the air. Perfect! I am at the right angle to execute my plan, until suddenly I am going further down than what I had intended.

Well, will you look at that, in all the excitement of having my first kill. I had forgotten to tighten the knot around my waist.

As I was sure I would be falling to my immediate death.

I pleaded to the MoonGoddess, Please let me die at once and not break a few bones. At least then I would not have to face the wrath of my Aunt Zeela.

I fall with my eyes closed bracing myself for the impact of the ground but it never really comes.

I open my eyes to see silver blue eyes staring right back at me with amusement dancing in them, mocking my fall.

To my utter embarrassment Ohadh has caught me, his one hand beneath my knees and the other supporting my back.

I hear Noah scream with panic in his voice."LYLAH ARE YOU OKAY??"

"Ahhem could you let me down" I say a little awkwardly.

He nods and gently lets me down before he starts laughing at my expense. Noah hearing his brother roaring with laughter assumes I am very much alive.

I turn to Ohadh with a glare."Thank you but I could've managed on my own and landed just fine."

I expected a chauvinistic comment to that but he puts his hands up in mock surrender "Sure, you would have."

I offer him an offended smile.

"Are you out of you mind!! who the hell forgets to check the knot around their waist before jumping off of a 200ft tree?!?! you could have died!! if it wasn't for my brother" Noah says pointing his finger at me in an accusing gesture.

"Don't worry," I tell him, patting his head. I did have to get on my tippy toes since Noah is a 6'3 giant. "I'm perfectly fine."

Noah, Ohadh and I have been friends for as long as my memory serves me. Noah and I are 16 years old while Ohadh is 18.

Ohadh and I were born on the pink moon, two years apart. I have been living with my Aunt Zeela and Uncle Jonah since I was baby.

They have treated me as their own daughter but I can't help wonder what my life would've been if my parents were here.

I have seen pictures of my beautiful parent's. My mother and father were among the seven warriors that protected the Mount Zenaedya.

I know they both died in the Great War fighting, I have always wanted to know more about the death of my parents but whenever I do bring it up, my Aunt refuses to tell me about it and I don't push it because I can see it in her eyes that she still carries the pain from that day.

My parents dying did not only have an impact on my life but her's too.

I can see that she struggles every day to come to terms with the death of my mother and so I have decided to find out what exactly happened that day on my own, I just don't know how yet.

The three of us keep walking until I notice it is already sundown. I turn towards both of them, alarmed "Oh shit, Aunt Zeela is going to kill me if we don't reach her before the moon peaks."

Noah glances at Ohadh before looking at me "We would reach there faster, if we ran in our wolf forms" while taking his shirt off.

Ohadh nods, they both turn into their handsome wolf forms in a blink of an eye and no matter how many times I see their wolf forms I can never get used to it.

Noah has golden brown fur with amber colored eyes. While Ohadh has silver white fur with silver blue eyes. They had alpha blood running through their veins which explained their magnificent build and their intimidating aura.

They take a head start to give me enough time to transform into my own wolf.

I have jet black fur with green eyes. I look up at the sky and notice it has started drizzling. I start running with feeling the ground under my paws. It starts thundering and I soon catch up to Noah and Ohadh.

I can sense them really trying to beat me but they should know not to expect anything less from the best warrior in the pack.

I reach the pack house first with Noah and Ohadh right behind me.
