God had it been a long day. Studying for finals always kills, especially when your trying to study with people far less intelligent than yourself. Nora sighed getting into her car, and flung her book bag into the back. She put the key in the ignition and began to drive to Lacrosse practice. Hopefully her brother Elijah would be there to pick up their younger sister, Elise. So she wouldn't have to run laps again for being late. Her brain was defiantly fried. All she could think about was Microbiology and Anatomy. " The humorous was connected to the radius and ulna and the hand bones consist of 14 phalanges..." Shaking her head she reached for the radio, trying to drown out her own thoughts. Her panic at the disco CD began to play loudly, her speakers close to blowing out.
"Climbing out the back door, didn't leave a mark
No one knows it's you Miss Jackson
Found another victim
But no one's gonna find Miss Jackson, Jackson, Jackson
You put a sour little flavor in my mouth now
You move in circles hoping no one's gonna find out
But we're so lucky,
Kiss the ring and let 'em bow down
Looking for the time of your life
A pretty picture but the scenery is so loud,
A face like heaven catching lighting in your nightgown,
But back away from the water, babe, you might drown-
The party isn't over tonight"
Bobbing her head along to the tune, a smile finally crossed her face. But soon that smile turned into a frown as she pulled up to practice, Elijah had not picked up their younger sister. "Freaking Eli..." She said angrily. Elise walked up and climbed into the back, pushing her bag over "Hey Nora!" She said cheerily. Angrily she muttered a "Hey." Elise took the hint, and put her headphones on.After speeding home, so she could get back to practice; she decided on not going. It was a Friday night after all. Parking on the street, Elise got out and helped her with her books. She apologized for being so short with her, and they walked in together. Elijah happened to be at the door, keys in hand. "Hey.. sorry I fell asleep after my practice-" she placed her keys on the hook, cutting him off. " Its fine." A glare was given in his direction and she headed up the stairs. When she was in her room, she flung AP books , along with her lacrosse bag angrily.
She sighed and leaned against her door. God was it all catching up to her. All the stress and anger was coming back. She took three breaths and counted slowly " One...Two... Three.. " she shut her eyes tightly, and then a few flashbacks washed over her of her horrid freshman year. She forced herself to keep counting through the pain, like she was taught" Four... Five.. Six... Seven.." A small buzz in her pocket interrupted her counting. "Damnit.."she scolded her phone. Now she had to act like she was okay, when it obviously was not. She pulled her iPhone out of her pocket and sighed seeing it was her boyfriend, Tate. She slowly slid the green answer bar, hoping that he would hang up before she could finish. "Hey.. Babe. What's up?" She forced. "Babe! What are you doing in this very moment?!" His voice was eager, almost like a small child's. "I'm.. In my room.. I just got home. " a small chuckle crossed the line. "Alright, get into your car and come to our spot. I have a surprise!" Putting the phone away from her face she groaned loudly. "Look, love.. Right now is not a good time... A really bad time. " this was not making her feel any better "Oh... Well.. This took a long time... And .. I was hoping." She cut him off "You need to tell me things babe. I can't just drop everything at once.. Especially now.. Finals and all. I'm sorry Tate. I really am." Defiantly not making anything better. "No, it's Fine. Sorry" his voice trailed "See you tomorrow.." Click, the line went dead. "For shits sake... Can this day get any better." Looking up, even more frustrated than before she began counting again. "One. Two. Three. Four." Her body eased, and she gently slid down the door. "Five. Six. Sev-" the door connecting her, and Elijah's room swung open. Low and behold Elijah was standing at the threshold. "Mom said that Aphrodite is here, are you going to Arron's party?" With one fluid motion Nora slammed her head into the door behind her, making a loud thud. "Out. Tell Aph to wait in the loft." She said coldly. Eli raised an eyebrow and nodded, his head sinking down into his chest after. At least he knew not to ask questions. She felt bad, but now was not the time.Parties were defiantly not Nora's thing, but yet weekend after weekend she dragged herself out of her house to attend at least one. Her best friend Aphrodite was usually a hostess, or an attendee of all these lavash parties ; so naturally Nora also had to Co- host or attend. Aphrodite was physically the exact opposite of Nora, she was blonde, with emerald green eyes and Nora had black hair and icy grey blue eyes. They both had athletic builds, but Nora had a wider chest and hips. Neither of them lacked intelligence. Since Pre-K they had always been at the top of their class, weather it be math, science or literature they dominated the classroom environment. Everything aside, tonight was a very special night. It was Arron Voda's final senior party. Popularity was like drinking water in his eyes, he had been the star quarterback of the varsity team for four years. He also wrestled and played baseball on the varsity level as well. The only weakness this boy had happened to be Nora's best friend. Aphrodite was the apple of his eye, but she had a different dream. His name happened to be Dakota Fairchild, who was Arron's best friend. Nora knew what was coming tonight, Arron was going to finally ask Aphrodite out, and then Dakota would probably laugh and tell him that they have been dating for almost a year. Drama man. She thought that it would end in middle school. Boy was she wrong. As she was fixing her hair, all the different outcomes of tonight ran through her mind. But all of them were cut short when Aphrodite stormed in. "Eleanora Faye Lovett! I have been waiting for 15 damn minutes woman." She said angrily, putting a hand on her hip. Nora sighed setting her brush down, and turned to look at her. "Does no one know of the term, 'Knocking' anymore? Shit." She walked to her closet and grabbed her signature leather jacket off the hook. "I'm ready goose." The look on Aphrodite's face was priceless. Nora had gone a little bold on the outfit, but it was her last senior party! "Duck." Aphrodite said slowly "You look amazing!"she squealed. Nora smiled and nodded, "Thanks love. Now let's go or we're going to be late!"
