Million Dollar Love

Chapter 2

My first week of work was extremely busy. My boss, Angela, had lots of stories for me to cover. Nothing big yet. Just a bunch of small stuff like the opening of the new high end clothing store, Blush.

But I don't mind. I know I have to work my way up to the bigger stuff. It's just nice to have some less boring stuff to write about.

I went back to the beach over the weekend twice to look for the mysterious surfer whose name I didn't get, but unfortunately I didn't see him. I'm not going to lie, I was pretty disappointed. He probably thinks I'm a rude person for ditching him like that and decided to go to a different beach in case I came back. Oh well. Plenty of fish in the sea I guess.

When I get into work on Monday I have not been in my chair for more than 30 second before Angela barges into my cubicle.

"Okay girl! I have a big, big, BIG story for you!"

She takes a seat on the edge of my desk with a big smile on her face, rubbing her hands together with excitement.

"So there's this 25 year old smokin' hot CEO named Damen Parker who just took over his dad's business 6 months ago. The company is called Parker Enterprises. Well, he agreed to do an interview with us! And I want YOU to do the interview!"

"Wow, Angela, I'm so flattered that you chose me, but may I ask why?"

"I don't know, I just feel like you could bring a whole new perspective to the story! I mean, a small town girl moves to the big city and interviews a hot millionaire big shot! I just dig it."

"Hmmm, okay well I'm down for it! What should I interview him about?"

I take a sip of coffee while I wait for her answer and nearly choke when she gives it to me.

"Well we obviously need a few questions about his work and what it's been like to take over the company, but apparently he is also single! I think our readers would be most interested in his love life!"

"Oh, um, I-I've never interviewed someone about their love life before."

"Oh please, don't you worry! It's easy, you'll do fine!"

My cheeks flush a little thinking about asking this supposedly hot, young guy questions about his dating life.

"When is the interview?"

"Tomorrow at 8:00am sharp! He's a very busy man so we had to squeeze it in wherever possible.

TOMORROW. Oh boy.

"Don't worry though, I already have a list of questions you can ask based off of other love life interviews we've done. So you are all ready!"

The material may be ready, but I sure as heck am not.

When I get home from work I decide to give Kate a call. I didn't get a chance to talk to her all weekend because she was super busy with work.

"Hey, Kate! How's it going?"

"Hey Adeline! Ugh you know, the usual, just super busy and always on the go. This new job is kicking my butt!"

"You really should try and take some down time Kate, you're going to work yourself to death!"

"Nahhh, I'm fine. I can sleep when I'm dead!"

I laugh. Kate is definitely a busy body and can't stand it when she's not doing something.

"Anyways, how was your weekend? Did you see the cute surfer guy!?"
