As most of you may know, getting any reads at all on your book is hard enough. But I want to talk about how people get popular on wattpad.

Now, I've been on wattpad for almost 5 years (come February 1st ;)) and I have read some amazing books on this site and met some amazing people because of it. But not enough people are getting recognised. It took me over a year to get 1k reads let alone the amount I have now. Unfortunately I feel sometimes that it's all about the reads and not the people behind them. Every single read, follow, vote I get I thank people for no matter who they are because I am honestly honoured people want to read what I have written and for once my reads are not just made up of me re reading my stories, checking for mistakes, (you know we've all been there;) )

I have no objections with people who work their butt of to create great stories and actually do their best to spend time with their readers and actually have a conversation with them. E.g. @skyhuntress, @parogar, @prisim, @JEHallows @TaranMatharu and so many amazing genuine writer's who have managed to become big through the brilliance of wattpad and through sheer hard work and effort. I'm sure there are tons of you more out there, if I wrote you all down it would take years, ;)

But, despite this I've always wondered how people with a million readers do it? For example I saw someone who had 8.5 million reads, just as many followers and yet he only followed two people. Two?! Seriously?! Not only that but they'd only been on for 6 months. 6 months!! It's bad but sometimes I think people like that don't deserve the amount of popularity, yes their writing may be the best on the bloody planet but what's the point if you don't TALK to your followers and at least try to get to know, I dunno, 5 of them?! Yes OK, fine sometimes people don't have enough time to do that but surely people who take the time to message you or PM you should deserve some sort of recognition whether or not they have 200 followers or 2.  EVERYONE deserves a chance at being recognised, whether you think your a great writer or not. It's a SOCIAL website, that usually means you TALK to people!! I do my best to thank everyone and if you don't reply it's your loss, I don't stress out about it. I'm sorry in advance if I didn't thank you for it,

There, happy?

Way back when status' actually existed, I saw someone write, 'I won't talk to anyone who has less followers than me.' Wth?!! Wattpad is all about getting to know OTHER people not just to become popular, degrading other people like that just makes my pirate blood boil! So what if people have less followers than you, IT'S A FREAKING NUMBER! A. NUMBER! Yes it kind of contradicts my previous statement and yes I know that number equals a certain number of people/reads ext but GOD! Just because someone has a less amount of people following them doesn't make them less of a person than you are, it just makes you an ASS for putting that as your status. And no, I don't give a damn whether you may have meant it as a joke, you don't say it, write it, mouth it, Morse code it, whatever. No.

Anyways, popularity ruins some people's sense of morality and sometimes even humanity, there is A REAL LIFE PERSON on the other end, freakin remember that next time, you tosspots.

I either want to be remembered/followed as someone who either writes a book (or several) that everyone can enjoy or because I do my best to be a genuinely honest person with a unique personality, not someone who feeds of people's praise on how popular they are. I'm still amazed over getting 1k reads let alone almost 8k. I'm not bragging, I'm just stating the facts. You can see it from my writer's description in some of my earlier chapter's  in The Night Rider, I was genuinely ecstatic about reaching 300 reads let alone over 1k. Still am. 

And one more thing! (Uncle reference anyone? ;))

If you ASK (genuinely write the words) for someone to check your work for mistakes (other than Spell check) then grand, but if you receive a reply which sounds like this,

'DUH, you spelt 'the' wrong and wrote two ee's, are you stupid or something?'

Do not brag about how many reads/votes you have in retaliation to their stupid comment because that is even more stupid than the comment itself.

Reply as nice as you can and if they reply even more idiotically than the second time,

Feel free to write what you want. Rip them to shreds with words if necessary. ;)
