Mission Report (Zavala X Reader)

"Zavala! Look!" You squealed, pointing up at the stars with your free hand since your arm was wrapped around the Titan's arm.

"They're beautiful," Zavala commented, smiling.

"They are. Stars make me think of humanity and what we really are fighting for," you look up at him, smiling brightly.

"Although no star could compare to the beauty of you," Zavala's soft voice said, making you turn pink.

"Oh stop it!" You playfully shoved the Awoken, but him being the Titan he was, he barely moved.

Zavala chuckled at your actions, pulling you closer to him.

He saw your Fireteam, Jax and Nemina, walk into the courtyard of the Tower with sadden looks on their faces. Cayde soon followed suit, his optics dim.

Seeing this, Zavala felt a lump in his throat. Where were you?

Jax and Nemina walked up to Zavala, greeting him. Instead of the wild Jax's greeting and Nemina's calm one, they both had no energy in them.

"Commander Zavala, we've come to turn in our mission report," Jax mumbled, looking anywhere expect for the Commander's face.

"Where's (Y/N)?" Zavala asked, afraid of the answer.

"The mission was successful, but..." Nemina trailed off, "(Y/N) was killed within the crossfire."

This had to be a joke. Cayde or Ikora had to be behind this and you would come out of the Hangar all okay.

"Come again?" Zavala requested, his heart beating fast.

"Our mission on Nessus to make sure the Vex weren't building anything was a success. We stopped them, but within the fire, they had somehow corrupted (Y/N)'s Ghost and they were soon shot down," Jax explained.

Nessus, the place were the two of you first kissed and after a couple of years, where he proposed.

"C'mon Zavala!" You giggled, dragging him to a little area to had set up.

"I'm coming. What is this big surprise you have for me?" He asked, his eyes covered.

"You'll see!" You replied.

"Well after your surprise, I have a surprise," Zavala explained.

"Really?" You asked, the excitement in your voice being hard to contain.

Zavala nodded, chuckling softly at your reaction.

When you two came up to the little picnic area you had set up, Zavala smiled at you. Pulling you close, he kissed you passionately.

No matter how long you guys were together, you savored his kisses like they were the first, and the last.

After he pulls away, the Awoken got down on one knee making you silently gasp and put a hand over your mouth.

"(Y/N) will you marry me?" Zavala asked, smiling up at you, stars dancing in his eyes.

Nodding your head, you flung yourself into his arms and started crying, "Yes! A million times yes!"

He spun you around, kissing you on your cheek and after he put you down, he slid the diamond ring onto your finger.

Zavala started playing with his ring, this couldn't be true. This has to be a joke. His throat was dry, too dry. He knew he had to say something, but nothing came out.
