Ichigo Kurosaki POV

"Alright, I'm off!" I yell, swinging open the door.

"But, Ichigo, you haven't had your breakfast yet!" Yuzu calls after me.

"I'll be fine, I'll snatch something off Keigo or Mizuiro!" I yell, before slamming the door before me. I grip and throw my school bag over my shoulder, sighing and head to school.

My name is Ichigo Kurosaki. I'm 17 years old, and I go to Karakura High School. My family runs a medical clinic in town. It's probably 'cause we're entrusted with the lives of the living. I can't be too sure. But, for as long as I can remember, I'm able to see the souls of the dead. And my reputation? A substitute Soul Reaper.

"Ichigo! Where have you been?!" A boy with brown hair alongside a boy with black hair yells, waving his arms. I slightly wave back and walk toward the male duo.

"Where were you, Ichigo?" The boy with black hair exclaims, "I was really worried."

"Hey, me too!" The brunette cuts in. "Sorry, Mizuiro, Keigo. I must've overslept or somethin'." I lie, shrugging.

"Ohhhhh! That makes sense." Keigo beams.

Why do I have such idiotic friends...?

Then, the bell rings. "Aghhh, we're gonna be late for class!" Mizuiro panics. "Let's go, let's go! We can't be late for the first day back!"

It had been months since I last saw Rukia and the others. For some odd reason, I kinda miss them.

As I sit in my seat while everyone else is sitting in theirs, I gaze at the empty seat that Rukia used to sit in, thinking of how weird it feels not being in the Seireitei. I glance out the window, sighing, until I feel a strange spiritual pressure.

I turn to Uryu, who looks at me, mouthing "You feel it, too?", and I nod in response.

The spiritual pressure gets a little stronger as the empty seat behind me gets filled, and Uryu gestures at the student sitting behind me, mouthing "It's her...!".

Suspicious, I slowly turn my head behind me to see a girl that I've never seen before taking books out of her bag. Her (E/C) eyes lock with mine and a burst of spiritual pressure oozes out of her, making me sweat. I rapidly turn away from her, my eyes widened.

The teacher finally enters the room and tells everyone to quiet down. "So, we have a new student joining our class, would you like to introduce yourself?"

The girl stands up, nodding and smiling. "My name is (F/N) (L/N)." She turns her head to me, still smiling. "It's nice to meet you all."

I narrow my eyes at her, still suspicious.

"Thank you, Miss (L/N). You can sit down now."

After class, more than half the class left for lunch. The girls who stayed joined the girl who claimed to be called (Y/N) for lunch in class, while I joined the boys.

"Isn't the new girl cute?!" Keigo exclaims. I turn to Uryu, who's observing (Y/N). "Ichigo."

I grunt in response.

"There's something fishy about that girl."

I nod, looking at (Y/N), who's busy socialising with the others, but then she catches me and Uryu looking at her, so we turn our heads away, pretending we're talking to one another.

(Y/N) POV

What's with them...?

"(Y/N)-chan?" The girl with orange hair asks, pulling me away from my thoughts. "Are you okay?"

"Oh, I'm fine, Orihime! Don't worry about me, ha ha."

She smiles, nodding.

"Say, Orihime. Are you related to that guy over there?"

"Oh, you mean Ichigo?" I nod in response. "Yeah... Ichigo."

She shakes her head, laughing. "No, of course not! We're just friends, that's all!"

I look down, crossing my arms and sighing. "'Friends'... I see." I stand up from my seat and turn to Ichigo. "I'll be right back, Orihime."

"(Y/N)-chan? Where are you going?" She asks as I walk off into Ichigo's direction.

I sit on the table next to Ichigo's, crossing my arms and legs. "Hey." I start, then they all look at me, Ichigo and a boy with glasses narrowing their eyes at me.

"Can I talk to Ichigo real quick?" I ask, Ichigo giving me a confused look.

"How do you know my name?"

"What? Would you prefer carrot top instead?" I ask, smirking.

He furrows his eyebrows, annoyed. "You little... Fine. What do you want?"

"Alone, please."

He sighs heavily, and follows me outside the class.

"What is it that you want to talk about so badly?"

I cross my arms and narrow my eyes at him, as he does the same to me.

"I know who you are, Ichigo Kurosaki."

He raises his eyebrows and cautiously looks around. "Alright, squirt. What do you want with me, what are you, and where did you come from?"

"'What am I'? How rude. Do I look like a creature to you?"

"Just answer my questions. What do you know about me, what do you want?"

Sighing, I nod. "Substitute Soul Reaper Ichigo Kurosaki, the Soul Society needs you."

His eyes widen. "You know I'm a Soul Reaper...?"

"Substitute Soul Reaper."

"Yeah, yeah... But how do you know this?"

I put my arms behind my back, looking over my shoulder.

"You see, Ichigo Kurosaki, I myself am a Soul Reaper."

"You're a Soul Reaper? Don't make me laugh."

"I am a Soul Reaper!" I exclaim, a little annoyed.

"There's no proof that you're a Soul Reaper, and 'cause of that, I'm not listening to you."

"Who said I didn't have proof?"

Ichigo gives me a confused look. "Whaddaya mean?"

I smile and pull out a Soul Reaper badge. Ichigo inspects it carefully, then scratches the back of his neck.

"Well, sorry that I judged you like that."

"Oh, ho ho, I'm not letting you off after annoying me and calling me 'squirt' earlier, carrot top!"

"'Carrot top'?! You little-"

"Ichigo Kurosaki, I challenge you to a fight!"

Ichigo shivers in annoyance, then crosses his arms.

"Alright, fine. Challenge accepted."
