The Nymph and the Slave
There was once a land settled in the woods, named Cordica. It was a beautiful land. With it’s clear blue skies, striking sun, tall trees, Cordica was a place of peace, and love. Where all woodland creatures could be safe and have a place to call home. It was not always this way, however.
A mere century ago, the land was in ruins. Having being taken over by the Great King Ambitio, it was reduced to a land of greed, envy, vanity, and selfishness. Beside him ruled his queen, the Lovely Vanikura, whom was as atrocious as her husband, yet much more conceited. The land was known as Saevis.
For many years the couple ruled, and for many years, the land became more corrupt. Eventually, the King decided he would pass on the thrown to his only son, Prince Avaritio. But you see, in order to rule Saevis, one had to have a queen, and Prince Avaritio had no such thing. For you see, he believed he deserved the prime, most excellent and lovely being as his wife. Many years he had raided the towns, looking for the perfect being. It was not until a simple hunting trip, withal, that he found her.
He and his men had gone out on the daily trip, and everything had been as ordinary and usual as last day. It was quick and sudden, but the Prince heard a melodious voice that he could not withdraw from his head, try as he might. Without thought, he forced his noir steed in the direction of the sound. He saw her for only a second, but it had been the longest second of his life. The Perfect Being.
“Father!” he had cried upon his arrival to the castle. “Father! O, Father! I have found her! I have found my bride; my queen!”
Excited, King Ambitio rushed forth to great his son in a haze of joy. “Do tell, dear one! Do tell indeed! Who is that has stolen thy’s heart?”
Love struck with the beauty that he had just witnessed, he sighed, “The nymph.”
“Nymph, my dear boy?” the King had asked in his confusion. What nymph? he had thought, fore when he and his men had taken ownership of Saevis, he had made sure to rid himself and his people of the notorious creatures. Perhaps he had missed one, he decided.
“Yes, father, I have fallen in love with a singing nymph.” This, confused Ambitio even more, though he decided not to dwell on the matter, instead responding with, “Then when shall thou go to find thy’s true love?”
“May I go now, Father?” the Prince had requested eagerly, for not only was he eager to marry, eager to become king, but likewise to bed the handsome nymph along with flaunting a beauty and perfection that would be his alone.
“Go!” said the King. “Go find thou’s love and hand, I command!”
That was all it took for Prince Avaritio to be off and gone in the direction of the forrest.
Night followed quickly, and still he could not find his Perfect Being! The Prince began to feel irked. It was as though she did not want to be found! Soon, it was dawn, the goddess Aurora rose the sun from the East, and a magnificent glow illuminated the forrest. The nymph was no where in sight, and the Prince had gone home.
As he arrived, a smug smile graced his noble features, and he could not help himself but too feel quite satisfied with himself.
“My dear son! Where have you been!” the queen dramatically threw herself to the feet of the elegant black steed, a few tears sliding down her bony cheeks.
“Mother, did Father not tell thou of my choosing to return to the forest to fetch my bride?” a playful smirk wore the Princes’s face as he watched Queen Vanikura call for her servants to lift her up to her feet, a look of pure happiness becoming her face.
