heartland farewell

It had been 3 months since lou had become mare of Huston.

It had not been all  it had been cracked up to be.

Lou had been so busy being mayor and running Maggie's she had barely had time to spend with gargoie and Kate let alone the rest of her family.

When she had become mayor lou  knew it would be a lot of work but she assumed she would be more hands on with the community as opposed to constant meetings in behind-the-scenes stuff.

Sometimes she wondered if taking down JD worth had been worth sacrificing all this time with her family.

Katie was  growing up so fast and Georgie would be going off to college soon.

Lou came home that night to see Amy and Jack in the kitchen making homemade macaroni and cheese..

Oh comfort food  exactly what i need right now lou said.

Well it's almost ready Amy said smiling.

5  minutes later the whole family sat down for dinner.

They had Pleasant conversation..

Or they did until Katie asked a question.

Mom are you coming to my soccer game tomorrow.

I'm sorry sweetheart I can't I have a meeting lou said.

Katie started yelling.

Of course you do your never home anymore dad's hear more than you are now Katie said getting up from the table and storming off.

Katie come back I'm sorry lou yelled after her..

The rest of dinner was eaten in silence.

After dinner Amy ,Ty and Lyndy went to Amy and Ty's room.

They were moving into their houses tomorrow and had a few last minute boxes to pack.

After Amy and Ty left lou got up to the dishes.

Jack went to check on Katie.

Katie heard a knock at the door.

Who is it Katie asked wiping the tears off her face. 

GG can I come in Jack asked.

Okay Katie said.

Jack came in,sat down on the bed beside  Katie and hugged her.

Are you okay Jack asked.

No not really Katie admitted.

Do you want to talk about it Jack asked.

I guess I just kinda miss mom.

She has been busy the last few months hasn't she Jack said.

Yeah we used to be so closed and now it's late she doesn't even care about me anymore Katie said...

Now that's not true your mother loves you very much Jack said.

Then why does it feel like she forgot about me she never used to miss anything of mine Katie said.

I think she's having a harder time with this whole Being  mayor thing than she expected just try and cut her some slack and I'll come to your soccer game tomorrow if you want Jack said.

Okay I'll try and yeah that would be nice Katie said smiling..

Okay I'll be there I'm going to go check on your mom now Jack said smiling at Katie.

GG Katie said as he was just about to close the door.

Yes Jack asked.

I love you Katie said.

I love you too honey Jack said .

Jack walked into the living room to see lou said on the couch.

He sat down beside her.

Rough day lou Jack asked.

That would be an understatement you know Grandpa sometimes I wonder if I made the right decision becoming  mayor lou admitted.

Being in charge of the whole town would be a lot of work for sure Jack said.

And then there's Katie I'm pretty sure she hates me lou said.

She doesn't hate you lou she misses you Jack  said.

I miss her too grandpa I don't know what to do lou said starting to cry.

Jack didn't say anything instead he just held lou while she cried.
