16: return to moonrise river

LATER THAT EVENING:

I had managed to calm down from the events of earlier, and I was now sitting at the dining table with everyone else.

The boys have been trying to get me to open up all evening, but I'd refused.

"You're such a good cook Hyung!!" Jungkook sqeauled as he shoved a spoonful of buttery mashed potato in his mouth.

That was usually my favourite dish, but after earlier I'd lost my appetite.

"Don't talk with your mouth full JK!!" Jimin giggled, swatting the younger's shoulder.

"I'm not a chef for nothing." Seokjin grinned, causing the others to chuckle.

And I'm sure that's not the only thing you all are.

Everyone continued stuffing their faces, and I glanced between them all. They were all acting oblivious, as if nothing happened earlier.

Is this too what Chnagkyun meant?

"Are any of you going to explain what happened earlier?" I spoke lowly, causing everyone to become silent.

The atmosphere became tense, and all I could hear was the faint sound of the grandfather clock at the back of the room.

"Well?" I begun, "I think you all have some explaining to do now"

Seokjin cleared his throat, "Aren't you going to eat anything(Y/n)? I'm awfully worried about you"

"Me too" Taehyung cocked his head, his brown eyes glistening at me.

"They're right" Namjoon spoke, "Please eat something (Y/n), you need your strength"

I grit my teeth. "What are you all really? Why do you always disappear on the full moon, and why do your eyes glow in different colours sometimes? And what did Changkyun mean about stealing Jimin from his pack?!"

Everyone continued staring at me in silence with wide eyes.

"Why are you pretending like nothing's wrong?!" I slammed my fist against the table, "I know exactly what I heard and saw, so stop playing stupid with me!!"

The elders glanced between each other, and Namjoon spoke, "(Y-y/n)" I don't think you're ready to hear the truth just yet"

"Why not? How many more moons will it be?" I demanded. "I've had it with you all keeping secrets from me" And with that, I turned on my heel and bolted out of the room.

I ignored everyone's cries after me as I pushed through the front door and out into the dark forest.

TIMESKIP:

"What kind of freaks have I been living with for the past 6 months?!" I panted hard, as I continued running deep into the forest.

I didn't care where I was going. I needed to get out of that house, as far away from those liars as possible.

I've been dismissing what the boys could've been all these months, but now I feel so stupid for ignoring my intuition.

Could they be shapeshifters? Wizards? I don't know what to believe anymore...

I sniffed really hard, and it was apparent I'd been crying as my cheeks felt soaked.

I aggressively wiped my tears and continued bolting through the forest.

Contrary to how I felt, the forest felt quite welcoming. My surroundings were stunning, and the trees were lit up by millions of fireflies that held their authority over the forest.

A warm breeze surrounded me, causing my hair to tickle my face, and I slowed down to appreciate my surroundings.

An earthly scent filled my nostrils as I spun around, and a strong moonbeam reflected down on the various flowers- that I'd never seen before in the daytime.

I glanced up at the canopy above me, and I could just make out a bright full moon that bore down through it.

Will the boys go out to visit their 'friend' tonight and leave me to my thoughts?

I think that would be best.

I continued walking through the forest, lightly pushing past bushes that glimmered and boasted their greeneries.

I kept walking until the forest was no more, and I was on open land with a vast lake glistening against the moonbeam.

"Moonrise River" I gasped, and glanced up at the moon which was now at the highest point in the sky.

'Legend has it is that this river is special, it's called the Moonrise River. It has healing properties for those of special blood- those with the blood of the wolves. Especially on the full moon.'

I remember Yoongi saying that. Isn't tonight the full moon?

I looked up, and there the moon was, pridefully beaming down at me.

"Legend has it that this river is special and supposedly has healing properties for those of special blood- the ones with the blood of the wolves" Yoongi began.

I don't believe in fairy tales, but I don't think it's a coincidence I've been led here.
