Kagami was outside, all his friends laughing and drinking it up, partying together. No one had noticed him leave the room and stand on the balcony. No one except for a certain blue haired lover who had been watching him all night.

"Hey. You good?" Aomine walked up to Kagami. He stood next to him by the rail, the cold winter's night biting his cheeks. He looked at the redhead, surprised to see small streams of tears running down his face. They dripped onto the hands of their owner, sun kissed knuckles turning white from how harshly he was gripping the metal railing. "Taiga?"

"I have to leave, Daiki.... and I can't bring myself to tell them." Kagami sobbed quietly. Aomine had known for the past couple days that Kagami had to return to America. He was quite shocked to hear Kagami hadn't told anyone else. "Daiki.... I really.... I really don't want to go.... I don't want to leave you guys.... you're all so precious to me..."

"I know. You're precious to us as well." Aomine reached up and caressed Kagami's cheek, breaking the line of tears. He leaned in and kissed Kagami's forehead, neither caring if anyone saw them. All Aomine was focused on was giving Kagami the reassurance he needed. "That's why you have to go. This is a really good opportunity for you. Being scouted for any kind of prestigious school is a blessing-"

"But not if it takes me away from you!" Kagami suddenly yelled. Aomine could see the anguish that Kagami had been holding in. All the pain and sadness he knew full well that Kagami didn't want him to see. "It's not a blessing. It's not. It's a curse. And it's so unfair."

"Taiga..." Aomine could feel his own sadness coming up. He could feel the burn of tears starting to well up in his eyes. He held Kagami close, letting the redhead cry into his shoulder. The partygoers were unaware of what was happening just through the glass doorway, too busy on trying to celebrate a third year's birthday. "Taiga we both know you can't turn this offer down."

"B-but... can't I? Why is it so wrong to stay here.... with you.... why.... why do I have to leave?" Kagami raised his head from Aomine's shoulder and sniffled, his red, puffy eyes staring desperately into his lover's. Aomine shook his head sadly and wiped away the tears. "No.... no, don't be like that... let me stay here... let me be by your side.... we can become professional players together... I don't want to leave you just for some stupid sport!"

"Stupid sport?" Aomine laughed under his breath and willed his own tears away, smile creeping onto his lips as he cupped Kagami's cheeks and gave him an eskimo kiss. "I thought you loved basketball."

"But I love you more!" Kagami sobbed brokenly. That was what did Aomine in. He started crying too, strangling his lover in a hug tighter than a vice. They cried together in the cold winter air, tears making their eyes and cheeks burn. Their breath came out as sad puffs of smoke, mingling together. Kagami was coming undone. He leaned into Aomine for support and screamed into his chest, falling to his knees. The bluenette had never seen Kagami look so defeated. "I love you. I love you! I love you!"

"I love you too." Aomine cried softly. He shut his eyes. "We can still keep loving each other, you know. It doesn't have to stop. Just because we're not next to each other doesn't mean I'll stop loving you."

"I-i know... I know....b-but... but.... I just.... I can't imagine waking up half way across the world from you, not being able to hear your voice, or see your face, or feel the touch of your hands. I don't want to live like that. It barely feels like living." Kagami knew full well he was being dramatic, but he really honest to god felt like that. Aomine was sitting next to him, comforting him as best he could. He held Kagami like a precious piece of glass, gently, tenderly caressing him. He peppered his face with kisses, nuzzling against him. "Daiki.... I don't think I can do this.... I'm not strong enough for this bullshit."
