Princess Luna, born into a royal family full of riches and was the most powerful kingdom in all of endradal. However the royal family never took care of the princess. It was the maids, slaves and guards who tended to her every need. She lived a life where her parents didn't really exist to her. As a child she often used the words 'momma' and 'dad' to call the maids and guards.
Over the years, she learnt to play, tend, and entertain herself behind the walls of the castles, since the only rules that were set for her was to never go outside the walls. She never understood why.
Instead of playing with plastic dress-up dolls or playing dress-up with a servant, she had gained an interest in books in the castle library, reading a particular series. "Midnight Wolf: and the Seven Elements." Which told a story of a wolf who ruled the world of Altaru and would often go on adventures to other kingdoms with her companions. Sometimes there'd be a war, in others they'd team up with other kingdoms to defeat the lord of the Down Under. No matter what, she was addicted to that book series.
As Luna got older and older, the more and more her parents payed attention to her, not because they cared about her, but because she was around the age to look for a suitor and get married so, the king and queen could retire their crowns. Her parents began dressing her in bigger dresses, caked her in make-up and would complain when they saw her reading, stating that 'No man wants a smart girl.' They took her to the village on their weekly walks and included her in meetings when discussing plans for the village, what was planned for war, and other important things revolving around the kingdom. However, Luna did not take interest in any of these things. Yes, it was nice to leave the castle walls but everything besides that she disliked, and was disgusting by the thought of marriage, especially at the age of 16 to a 26-34 year old male. Sometimes she wished she didn't live this 'glamorous' life and wished to be a regular towny just like the other people in the village.
