Sun peaked over the clouds, melting the snow from the last night. Roads were brown with muddy snow as his car moved across it.The day was warmer but still cold.
A slap of cold wet wind, hit across his face as he stepped out of his car.Eyes still followed him around but today more than usual.
As he neared his locker, loud voices gained his attention. With quick steps, he moved closer as people moved out of his way wordlessly.Serene and Jason were in a shouting match. Not caring about the overlooking audience and pointed phone lenses.
"Don't you fucking get the message? He doesn't like you. Stop interfering in his life." Jason shouted with his stance rigid and eyes narrowed. It was a no brainer who this 'he' was and understanding what the argument was about Aziel sighed.
People stared at him, expecting any kind of reaction out of him but with his uncaring sigh hey seemed disappointed.
Serene pursed her lips, ready to sprout a response when Aziel interfered in between."Cut it both of you. We will talk about this later." Aziel said with a calm voice. When Serene tried to open her mouth he raised his hand, stopping her in between. "Later."Huffing at his response Serene click-clacked her way away. The crowd was still gathered with some uncaring ones still recording the whole thing.
"Show's over. Get lost." Aziel said gesturing them to leave. Once the feet started to skid away, along with the murmuring voices Aziel turned to face his friend.Jason still with his shoulders tensed and icy eyes blazing, he stared the way where Serene left."What was her tantrum today?" Aziel asked as he leaned along his locker door.
Jason's eyes moved from the empty spot in the air to his friend's eyes. His shoulder drooped and stance shifted to a defeated one."She wanted to know the key to your locker," he whispered in a barely-there voice.
Realization was instant but still, he felt the need to confirm. "Why?"
Jason gave him a small smile."She wanted to remove whatever gift your secret Santa gave you. She didn't like that some other girl had your attention, while she couldn't with all the things she did."
Aziel groaned lowly under his breath. Closing his eyes he remembered why he hated that girl so much but before that memory could overtake him, he remembered why he bore her presence.
"Ignore her. I will talk to her." Aziel said as his eyes moved across his friend's face.
Jason's face twisted to disapproval but then soon switched to that of small joy. His blue eyes glittered as his eyes flicked to his locker."So...What is your gift today?"
With eyes, wide Aziel quickly moved. With practiced fingers, he moved the numbers till he heard the familiar click.Wrapped in black paper with glittery Christmas lights printed across it his slim gift lay there perfectly, topped with a ribbon.
He picked the light gift carefully with his fingers. A small sticky note on top caught his attention.
'I still don't get it. What is this whole craze about mint chocolate?I don't like it but you love it.So...(drumroll)...some homemade mint chocolate for you. :)'
Pocketing the note, he ripped the packing open. Delicate bar of chocolate with brown and pale green swirl all over revealed itself.
Breaking the corner piece he popped it in his mouth.A familiar flavor burst across his tongue as happy memories drifted across his closed eyes.
