Today I went with my sister to a vampire breakfast. She, of course, thought it was your common day blood drive. They had us read the process and description of how things would happen and what to do and what not to do. It recommends getting eight hours of sleep and a nutritious breakfast before donating. After agreeing to the terms and conditions we were directed to a waiting area where I saw one of my former high school teachers.
We were in the waiting area for about thirty minutes. While there, we had to listen to the screams of all their past victims. "Who's next?" they'd say and called us back one by one. All who entered never returned.
"Who's next?"
"They were here first." My former teacher said.
"Do you want to go first?" my sister asked, and I responded "No."
"I'll go."
"Okay, follow me back." My sister was gone for five minutes when they returned.
"Who's next?"
"I guess it's my turn." Once I was called back, they asked the normal blood drive questions to avoid suspicion and to make sure that they were getting the top of the line blood. They checked my heart rate and blood pressure, then pricked my finger to test my iron levels. They took my temperature, and everything checked out ok. They took me to the extraction port.
"Which arm do you prefer, the right or left?" they asked.
"I don't know" I said, considering I have never been to an actual blood drive or blood drive set up. They had me hold my arms out and they put pressure on them to test which was better. My right arm looked better, so they prepped it.
"Do you have any questions?" I shook my head.
"You can look in the other direction if that helps." I have always had a strong fascination with blood and vampires, so I watched as the three-inch needle was pushed deeper and deeper into my skin. I was expecting it to hurt, but it didn't. They told me to squeeze a foam thing with my hand every five to ten seconds. To keep up a good appearance they went to get me some apple juice so I would stay hydrated and in good condition to give blood again.
After they gave me the juice, they checked in occasionally. They were surprised when every time they checked in, I told them it felt normal. It was like nothing was happening, but I knew this blood would keep the vampires living. After the blood bag filled up, they blocked the flow to build agony and checked in on other victims for a minute. It hurt when the pressure started building up which is what they wanted.
My former teacher was getting prepped in front of me and there was a kerfuffle. They stuck the needle wrong and had to start over, using the other arm.
"Ok, you're almost done. There's just a few tubes to fill."
"What are they for?" I asked.
"They're for multiple things, but they test to see if anything is wrong with your blood. That way we can give the blood without risk of contamination or disease." They were really testing to make sure we were human and that we didn't have any werewolf blood in us. Vampires can't stand any hint of werewolf blood; it causes skin adhesions and vampires pride themselves in their flawless skin.
"Drink twice the amount of water and don't skip any meals in the next few days." They had to say protocol things to keep their facade. After they were done, they had me put pressure on the wound.
"Hold your hand above your head like you're asking a question." They put gauze over the puncture site and some medical tape to make sure it sticks. If it didn't stick, they would smell the blood and they knew that if they smelt to much blood their fangs would come out and scare the people.
"Take the medical tape off after fifteen to thirty minutes and leave the gauze on for another hour or two."
They gave me a pamphlet "Information for Blood Donors" to call them if anything happens where my blood would be void or if I get sick. They also gave me a snack pack of Chips Ahoy! cookies.
"You're lucky, I didn't get to donate. They said there wasn't enough iron in my blood." my sister said as we met up. Her blood was not in the pristine condition needed to satisfy the vampires thirst. Downcast she said, "I'll try to donate again, hopefully it's soon," She made me finish the cookies and wait ten minutes before she would let me leave. I should have waited fifteen minutes before doing anything, something the vampires forgot to mention.
After all the blood was donated, they took it to the cathedral of the crosses to be distributed to the proper vampire customers.
"It was a job well done, there were no suspicions amongst the humans."
