Aziel found himself buried under the heavyweight of covers, the next morning. Even with the thermostat turned high and air of house crispy warm, he enjoyed the heavy blankets. They were a reminder of winter season just like snowflakes, fluttering outside his window.
The only thought that got him out of the bed was his Secret Santa. With Christmas approaching, he felt himself in a whirlwind of thoughts. With a smile adorning his features and new motivation powering his steps, he pushed the duvet aside and got ready for school.
Aziel felt a little dejected as he returned home after the long and torturous day. He hadn't received any gift yet, so he assumed it to in his hands by the end of the day.
When he walked into his room, he would have almost missed the package lying on his bed, if not for his thoughts. Well, that was an understatement. It was impossible not to notice the huge package wrapped in gift paper.
With a white paper packaging with gold snowflakes, this was one of the most beautiful gift paper, he had ever seen. Reading his name on top, written with a bold red marker, he dug into the package.
Inside was a warm fuzzy fleece blanket. Its color was a deep shade of garnet red with white Christmas trees, reindeer and snowflakes decorating it in a repetitive pattern.
It was heavy and warm. If it weren't for his larger than normal frame, he could have easily drowned in the sheer fuzziness and size of the blanket.
A note was carefully tucked in the folds of blankets, hiding the words that soon he was going to discover. His teeth pinched his lips as he nervously brought the letter closer.
'Hugs are the most amazing thing, aren't they?
But your hugs are the best things ever. They make someone feel fuzzy and warm, more than any blanket can.
So when the hugger himself want to get hugged but doesn't find someone? You get a blanket!
So till we meet, keep yourself warm! :)′
Aziel's eyes misted over as his mind went haywire. He wanted to believe, this was his Ella but his rational mind repeated the fact of her death over and over again. A small sob ripped through him and he hugged the blanket close to him.
Burrowing himself inside the blanket, he tried to relish the warmth it provided. He wanted to be hugged as he sobbed but was alone.
After some time, his eyes closed as his mind played a familiar memory.
Aziel was under the covers, feeling more content and satisfied he had ever felt. She was burrowed on his side, brown curls splayed on his sweaty chest and her sweaty chest pressed against his side.
Her fingers drew mindless patterns on his and his arms encased her close to him. He quickly turned to his side and pulled her closer. A squeal pushed past her lips as she found herself pressed close to him and locked in his warm hug.
She turned in his arms as a smile lit up her face. He was gazing at her intently, without any word.
"You know, your hugs are the best things ever. They are warm and fuzzy, just like you are on the inside. Like a marshmallow which is gooey goodness on the inside."
A smile lit across his face and he pulled her closer to slant his lips over hers.
