Chapter 1:

No one knows why I'm here. How I'm here. And how long I'll be here. But a very important question was, What am I?

That, was a mystery in life itself. How my parents came to be... and how I was in simpler terms made. But that would have to wait. After all, I had all the time in my hands, no?

"Monster! Beast! Stop!" I could hear the voices of those hunters behind me. But, would they really ever catch me? They wished.

And with my super-human, or should I say, super-non-human speed, I was off and all the hunters could do was hurt pure ears with their colourful language.

Supposed that was the life of a teenage vampizard...

~~~~~
Where do I begin? Oh, maybe a little self introduction will be helpful. But too much information could land you in dangerous hands. No matter, this is my book and therefore I can disclose as much and as little information as I like.
I'm Ethan. Only a mere first name with no family name. I don't see the need for one, considering mine was long gone.
And as to what I am, that would sum up to a simple compund word. Vampizard. I came up with this term myself. Creative, right?
My father was a korean vampire. Ironicly, my father stayed in his 20s for about a hundred years and he could always say he had plastic surgery like all typical koreans. I inherited most of my features from him. My eyes, my face and my paleness. And my mother, an american wizard, a fair 21-year-old who had the most beautiful raven black hair which I got from her. She would tell me I was like a split image of my father. Other than the hair colour, though.
It was rather cold now in the 'haunted' mansion I called home. What I'd give to have company in this place.
"Luminaria," I muttered as lights flickered on. Good thing about being half a wizard. You could use spells and have no need to get up to switch on lights. How convenient.
Where was I? Oh yeah, my parents. Both were purebloods of their kind and of course their relationship was rather... Unsupported. They may have even caused a war between their kinds once. So then, they did something and well, had me. What a surprise they had. A vampizard child. A crossbred child.
I had to be hidden. And of course, it wasn't easy when now two types of hunters were after you. I was separated from them eventually, and my mother put a consealment spell on me.
I felt my parents’ presence suddenly. Mum? Dad? Fool, I thought to myself. Better than anyone else, I knew that they were gone. After all, they had died right in front of my eyes.
My fist clenched into a tight ball and my already white fists seemed paler. If that was genuinely possible. That memory hurt.
“Protegas,” I could remember her kind motherly voice. When had been found eight years ago… it was horror. No, perhaps worse.
It had kept me safe. But no longer. I was going to turn 17 in a week. And then, the spell would be lifted, and my vampizard scent would be as attractive as a porn model to pedophiles to all vampire and wizard hunters. And did I mention the dark arts marketers who could get a fortune for my heart?
And that. Would be a test for survival. Which of course, I was already rather skilled at. That’s what being an orphaned vampizard since the age of 8 makes you.
I felt my eyelids fall slightly as I heard whispers around the mansion of mine.
“I’ll dare you to go in and find the monster that lives inside!” I could hear a high squeaky voice. A 10-year-old boy, I’ll bet.
“You go ahead!” a retort could be heard in reply. A weaker, perhaps 9-year-old voice. A girl, definitely.
They had no idea how right they were about the “monster” inside. Luckily, I always had a “normalus” spell around the house. Even if they got in, all they’d see was an abandoned house and cobwebs with thrown-away furniture. Nothing to fear.
Then a thought occurred to me. Why not feed my thirst on these two trespassers? My eyes turned from their usual ruby red to a terrifying blood red. I didn’t even need to look in a mirror. I was getting hungry.
Then I decided against it. I never feed on young children, and I had already sweared I never would. I gave myself a small smile. Why did I have a weakness for kids?
Without a second glance, I was already in one of my favourite animal forms- a raven, which matched my hair and my usual choice of clothing- and off to one of the darkest areas of this town, where I shall find my own prey. Who would be above 16, as usual.
~~~~~

“Can I help you?” Oh, the familiar voice of a kind soul who actually bothered when I had tapped onto her shoulder. She was pretty, a blonde with blue eyes. But the typical bitch type, though.

“Can you follow me into this alley?” I stared squarely into her eyes, not looking away or blinking at all. She nodded slowly as soon enough we were alone in the dark place.

I felt my fangs elongate and pierce into my gums. The hunger had arrived as I looked at her flawless neck. Quickly, my teeth found their target as the smooth liquid rushed down my gullet.

The adrenaline that fresh human blood gave me. Indescribable. It gave my life a new purpose.

Though half of me disapproved of this warm liquid. The wizard side of me, duh. As much as my vampire side loved it, the other half will always try to avoid this. And that was why when I ate normal human food, my vampire side hated it.

I looked again at my unlucky prey. She had been drained of colour and I decided to stop drinking. I didn’t kill, unless it was absolutely necessary. And thankfully, I’d never had the need to.

I let her go and then placed my hand on the two holes present. “Sanaros,” I whispered as the bite mark on the blonde’s neck healed.

Placing her on the ground gently, I whispered in her ear, “You have no recollection of this. When you wake up, you would think you’ve just fainted and will be back on your way to whatever slutty place you’re intending to go.” Casting a last disgusted look at what she wore, I turned back into a raven and was off on my way.

But what was I to be disgusted about if I was if not worse as bad as her?

And then, I was off, my raven wings bringing me far away, back to the comforts of my own home. Home was where the heart was, wasn't it?
