"We have to get everything together for my darling's big day." My mom scattered as she kept on babbling about the grand ball she prepared for my 18th birthday."Mommy, it's in 7 days. There's no need to rush." I assured her as I followed her scatter throughout the kingdom. She gives me a look for a little bit as if what I told her wasn't very pleasing.
She makes her way to the knitting tailors and grabbed the piece of cloth placed on the long table. "Now, honey. Royal blue or pastel pink?" She asked.
Royal blue, duh.
"Uhm, pastel pink, mother." I said and she smiled.
"That's what I thought." But I really want blue, though.
"Let's go, sweetheart." She said then pulls me to another place. There sat a table full of different types of laces. Too many for me to even identify which is which or if anything is even different from the other.
As if I was told to pick, I just pointed out at a lace that seemed more pleasing to the eye. My mother just nodded as she picked up the piece of lace and showed it to the tailor. She talked to her a bit more and I just stood there completely clueless.
Why was she even planning all of this things? I don't even plan celebrating much.
My mother left me as she went on to fix more stuff about the decorations. I took my time to make my way towards my room. It was at the farther most left wing of the kingdom.
My room was more plain looking than the rest of the kingdom. The interior was just a simple color of cream and a touch of beige.
I opened the big doors for me to come face-to-face with the silence of my room. I closed the door and went straight to the open balcony. I sighed as I leaned towards the edge of the balcony.
My room is at the 4th floor of the kingdom so the balcony has a complete view of the forest beside our place. And the beautiful sunset would always be at view at 5:00 in the afternoon.
"Your highness?" John, my butler who always stands at the corner of my room, asked.
"We're clear, John." I said and he heaved a deep breath before walking comfortably towards where I am. He leaned on the edge beside me, gazing at the early noon of Thursday.
John is practically my age 43rd bestfriend. I've been home-schooled since my mother opposes the thought of enrolling me in a royal school. He would always be there for me and have a talk with me but only in secluded or places where it's only the two of us.
Any personal contacts with the royal family will be prohibited and will suffer major consequences. As per my mother, the queen.
"So.. You're turning 18, huh?" He spoke.
"Yeah." I answered in the most quickest response. I was feeling very uneasy and John was the only person I've talked this about. And he knew what was the reason.
"You're still leaving?" He asked.
After a while, I finally nodded. It wasn't a very easy topic since I've decided on leaving my life. Only for a while, that is.
"I'm certain, John. It's what I've always dreamt of since I was young." I finally faced him. He faced me as well and just plastered this small reassuring smile on his face.
I couldn't be more happier that he understands me.
"Your highness." He called me out once again. I sighed hard and smiled a bit before hitting him slightly in the arm.
