"Cathy, come back inside, you'll catch a cold!"
My mom's voice rang through the hillside as I got up from the ground. I loved staring at the clouds as they rushed by in the clear, blue, sea-like sky. I never saw any shapes like people say they do. I only saw puffy white things made up of water and gas. These shapes people see are just figments of their imagination whising for something that isn't really there.
"Cathy, come inside. I'm going to lock the door in 10.....9.....8"
I drowned out her voice as I ran home. I loved the feeling of the wind brushing my hair and whispering in my ear. My bare feet ran as fast as they could over the cold grass. Sure, I could get sick, but that wouldn't be so bad. I extended my arms and let the wind push against me as I ran home.
"...1...I'm closing the do..."
I dashed in before she could finish her sentence. I lost my breath and collapsed on the floor. Halie, my older sister, laughed at me as I pretended to die. Never would I know that predenting isn't just a game.
"Get up Cathy, stop acting like an immature little girl"
I had the right to act so for I was a little girl at the ripe young age of 11. As I got up and walked over to the bathroom I heard my mom scream some curse words, as I had left grassy footprints on her new blue rug.
I splashed the cool water on my face, I would've liked to have some warm water to bathe in by the heater wasn't working. My eyes closed for a brief second as I threw the handful of water at my face. For a few seconds I was submerged in the underwater glory. My head shook to get rid of the excess water as I heard the door slam shut.
"Where have you been! Dinner has been waiting on the table for TWO HOURS!"
"Well it's not easy to be a working father you know, so stop screaching in my ear!"
"Screaching! I'm SCREACHING!?" I heard a plate crash and shater into a million pieces. Quickly I locked the bathroom door and sat down on the floor. This happened every day, they would fight for hslf the dsy thsn fall asleep in different rooms.
My hands moved to my hears as I tried to muffle out the screaming.
"Take me to where the dreams begin, Take me your palace. I want to be with you, for my whole life"
It was my mother's favorite song played at her wedding. I only knew those few lines but I always repeated them to pass the time.
As I rocked back and forth I sang "Take me to where dreams begin." Crash "Take me to your palace". Bang."I want to be with you" Scream "For my whole li....................................................
I couldn’t feel my head, I felt dizzy and all of sudden darkness overcame me. I knew I was alive yet I couldn’t breathe. Everything hurt, pain seized through my body as if I got cut in half. I was afraid of the darkness. Mom always hugged me close to her warm body whenever we were outside in the night.
I lay on nothing; floating away my mind is in a different world. I hear people all around me but I can’t see their faces. I smell….what is that…cookies? But there no cookies in heaven, or are there? “Cccccan I havvve a cookkiee?” I squeak out and hear laughs and sighs of relief.
“Wake up pretty girl, wake up” I don’t know whose talking to me and refuse to move. “You can open your eyes, its safe now.” I find out that my eyelids are moving and slowly I begin to see moving people in a blur. My eyelids open and I see women in white dresses.
“Is this a wedding party”. I’m finding my voice now, and again I hear laughs.
“No, sweetie you’re in the hospital.” A pretty women reached out her hand to me and helped me sit up. “My name is Angela" and I'll be taking care of you.
