LEXIE WAS CONVINCED THE CLOCKS IN THE HOUSE WERE MOVING SLOWER, there was just something about the time there that felt weird, there were bursts where it would move faster, than slower.

she was done thinking about the weird fucking shit that had been occurring around her.

the old wooden floors creaked under lexie's sock-covered feet as she tiptoed down the stairs like a criminal. she moved fast and quiet, clutching kate's car keys in one hand and her phone in the other, hoodie pulled up, face makeup-free.

this wasn't some scandalous teenage rebellion, this was mcdonald's, and she was starving, she was literally going to eat her thoughts away.

she hit the bottom step and turned the corner—only to slam directly into something solid and annoyingly familiar.

"shit!" she hissed, stumbling back as her hoodie nearly flew off her head.

"well well well," miles said, standing in the hallway with his hoodie halfway zipped, one hand in his pocket and the other holding a bottle like he'd conjured it out of nowhere. "look who's trying to be sneaky."

"move," lexie muttered, narrowing her eyes.

"where you going?" he asked, stepping right in front of the door, blocking her from moving any further. "none of your business," she said flatly.

"stealing kate's car again?" miles asked, eyebrow raised to the keys in her hand.

"again?" she scoffed. "you're literally leaving the house with a bottle of patron." she pointed out to the thick glass bottle he was clutching in his hand.

"you caught me," miles said, voice smug. "party time." he tilted his head a bit as he stared down at her, causing her to roll her eyes, obviously she knew that, it was implied from the bottle.

"wow. shocking," she muttered, "you wanna come?" miles genuinely asked, causing lexie to stare up at him as if he had completely lost all forms of sanity,

"why would i want to go to one of your shitty parties?" she asked in genuine annoyance,

"because you're an anti-social cave-sitting loser with no friends and even less serotonin," miles replied without missing a beat.

"fuck you," she said as she looked him up and down with a look of offended, "see? you've got the energy. you'll fit right in," he said, sipping from the bottle like she hadn't just cursed him out.

"i'm going to mcdonald's." she rolled her eyes, making miles laugh as he waved the bottle around, "what, are you gonna eat your feelings in a big mac?" he said with a disingenuous pout,

"yes, actually," lexie said, he hit it dead on.

"hot," miles smirked.

"god, you're insufferable," she said with an eye roll as he pushed himself off the wall.
