Up until three weeks ago, Shen Yue is absolutely happy being single. She's content with everything that's been going on with her life. And has no plans of marrying at all.
But all that changed when Madame Yu, her favorite feng shui master, and suanming shifu (fortune teller) told her that she needs to find a man to marry. Or else her family's company, whom she worked hard to grow, will eventually go down the drain if she won't be able to find a balance in her life.
Much to her consternation, that balance is a man. The yang to her yin.
Her destiny. According to the crystal ball.
And just when she thought that's the worst part of her crystal gazing, the lovely old lady further informed her that she has to find him before her thirty-fifth birthday.
Which is in two months' time.
Shen Yue is known to be a shrewd businesswoman and is known for her highly logical and analytical mind when doing her business dealings. In a span of mere two years since she became the CEO of Shen Corporation, she managed to turn it into a conglomerate and is now known as the Shen Group. But one thing that only a handful of people know is that she believes in fortune-telling.
Madame Yu Sao, whom she fondly calls Zumu is a well-known feng shui master but is more famous especially amongst businessmen because of her accurate readings. She is also her Nainai's best friend and she grew up watching her do zi wei dou shu (purple star astrology) and qiu qian interpretation (fortune-telling using incensed bamboo sticks).
When she was old enough, her Zumu has provided her with valuable readings, especially when it comes to big business decisions. And that made her a firm believer in the art of suanming shifu.
That's why even though every cell in her body is screaming in protest from what she is about to do, she knows she has to push through with it.
And this is also why instead of her being in her office conducting business, she can be found in the busy Shanghai Pudong Airport waiting for the flight that will bring her to Maldives. The place where Zumu said she would meet the person destined to be her husband.
She was roused from her thoughts when her phone rang. It was her best friend Yihan.
"I can't believe you're pushing through with this Yue. I thought I had you convinced yesterday to stop this craziness."
"I want to Yihan. You know how much I want to. But I also couldn't risk the future of Shen Group. I have employees to think of. And I also don't want to disappoint my father. You know I had to fight for my position in the company."
She could hear Yihan sigh at the other end of the line. "I know you are worried about your company. But are you sure Madame Yu didn't make a mistake? I mean, she gave you a reading using a crystal ball! That's not her expertise. And I didn't know that crystal balls can be specific. Very specific if I may add."
