BRIARCLIFF PSYCHIATRIC HOSPITAL WAS BUILT in 1978. It only opened its doors for a very select few. Those who were unusual in a special way. Those who have supernatural abilities. No one on the outside knew what was going on inside Briarcliff. No one knew why only certain people were enrolled into Briarcliff but no one questioned it.
Wednesday was born into a rather rich family. Her parents were usually busy and didn't make time for her. This made her feel distant from everyone, like she was trapped on the other side of a glass wall, looking out at everyone else. Her parents would usually shower her with gifts so she wouldn't feel as lonely without them. Wednesday knew she was different, but didn't know why or how, she just felt it.
Wednesday's parents figured something was wrong with her and decided to send her Briarcliff. They wanted to fix the problem and have her "normal" again and Briarcliff was their only option. But they'll never find out the true nature of Briarcliff.
