The next two weeks at the precinct were awkward ones. Now it was Alejandra not caring and moving on while Antonio was upset about their relationship.Oh how the tables were turned.
The two hardly spoke a word to each other because in each other's eyes , they both hit below each other's belt. He talked about her mom and she talked about his children. The deepest parts of their hearts were wrongly spoken upon and they both couldn't change it.
Surprisingly , Voight hasn't said a word about the furious exchange between them.
The unit was extremely quiet , so quiet to the point Adam Ruzek didn't even bother speaking to lighten the mood. He tried that once and the crowd didn't clap once.
No one dared to speak about what was said that night after it happened and Alejandra didn't bother telling Charles because she knew how quick Antonio would be dead. She didn't want the man to die and she also didn't want to be the one to tell his children that he was gone.
She didn't want any child to feel what she felt.
Voight walked out of his office and looked at his team.
"They are at the abandoned warehouse on Smith, it's game time."
They all got up and got their vests and gear on before jogging out. Hank stopped Alejandra and Antonio.
"You two ride together , no arguing , you hear me ?"
The two nodded before rushing to Antonio's black Ford Police Interceptor. He got in the driver's and sped off right behind Voight as they sped to the warehouse. For the past two weeks, they have been tracking down a big drug operation that was killing teenagers across four high schools nearby. All CI's were shown up dead or disappeared with a trace.
Voight got out with his team.
"Edwards , Dawson , go up the stairs to the top. Ruzek , Burgess take the left. Halstead , Upton take the right. Atwater , you're with me and we go straight. Let's go."
Voight kicked the door open and the gun shots rung off. Antonio and Ali started making their way to the stairs and Ali noticed a gun in the direction of them from the corner. She pushed Antonio's head down and shot at the man. The man grabbed his chest and fell to the floor.
Antonio looked over at the man laying down and looked at her.
She was still his damn partner.
He ran up the stairs with her right behind him. He pointed his gun out and looked around the corner.
"Clear!"
She came out from behind him and the two quickly shot three men before surveying the rest of the area to see no one up there. The second floor had a small walkway that connected to the other side of the wall , parallel from the stairs with yellow handle bars on the side like the stairs and the railings. A door was there but it had a lock on the inside, meaning no one was able to get in or out.
