Chapter 1: The newborn
I always thought of my own bloodline is something that I can be proud of. Before I was banished by my own kin...
We, are the giants, that have the settlements located at the Himalaya Highlands. The highlands can be found on the Dravidian map, which is a mountainous ridge that separates the Northern countries of Halcyon and Southern lands of Lordaeron, Atlantis and Evergreen Forest. The highlands are our only sanctuary, as we retreat to the place after the great war against Azh Dahak and his demonic invasion.
As giants, we have the power over earth and terrains thanks to the pact and blessings of Gaia, the Earth Mother. The pact itself also enabled us with the longevity and stronger resistance against diseases and poison. This makes us the strongest among the three main races of Dravidian, that proud of ourselves in physical strength and longevity. However, our race has always facing a key problem of low birth rate as a turnback. Before I was an outcast, I was blessed as a chieftain's bloodline, and something else which is special, but a curse among my own kind.
Legend says that there's a special kind among giants, Nephilim, which the founder of the clan really is. With this bloodline, the size and strength of the individual is rather similar than a human's, but in turn has the capability to control the body size and wield control of skies with the newly grown wings after its awakening. This, in turn, is a disgrace among the giants. They refuse to acknowledge the special case, and would like to eradicate it for good, as Nephilim is only a tale that exists among legends and there is only one individual Nephilim exists.
The tale dates back to the year X227, where the current Chieftain, Muradin Palladian rules the clan of Giants. His wife, and the queen of the clan, Freya is expecting a child. As Muradin is hovering near his tent while his wife is laboring, a cry of a newborn can be heard from his tent. The chieftain, who was excited and worried about his beloved, entered the tent. What he saw is his wife fatigue from her labor with a child embraced in her arms. However, his expression slowly becomes gloomy as he saw the size of the child. He was way smaller than a regular giant newborn, which only the size of their palm.
"The child...is so tiny..." Said Muradin, while he approached his wife and hold her hands while carefully caressed their child.
"He is beautiful..." Freya replied with weakened voice. She called her beloved to have his ears closer to her. "Promise me...That you would take care of...our child..."
That was the last message left by his beloved. Muradin carefully hold his newborn son in his arms. The child, who somehow knows about his mom's death, cries. Muradin mourned for the death of his beloved, while promised that he would look after their child. However, he resents his son for his birth and blamed him for her death.
Since then, the child is sent to his aunt's care, while the chieftain neglects his son and duties as a father. Edward's aunt is the only person who cared about him. The situation continues until Edward is seven years old, due to his aunt's death. He is later sent to the chieftain's household, where he first meets his father. Instead of a kind, father impression, Muradin give a cold shoulder to his son, and showed a menacing expression. To a child, the expression left a trauma on Edward.
"Show him the household. I'm busy with my duties as a chieftain." He said to his servant.
"But chief, young master needs his father..." Implied Gloria, Muradin's bodyguard. Though having a cold expression and may look merciless, the giantess bodyguard feel sorry for the kid.
"Like I said...keep him OUT OF MY SIGHT!!" Furious, Muradin snapped and locked himself in his chamber. Leaving Gloria and Edward, who tried to hold his tears, even though he is terrified. Gloria gently caressed the child by hold him to her arms, and gently speaks to the frightened child.
