~"Did you think I couldn't find out who you are, Khalid Rahmani?" Devak gnashed, aiming a gun at Khalid's chest.
Khalid stiffened, hearing his real name coming from that man's mouth sent a sickening chill down his spine.
"A martyr who, by a miracle, came back to life," he dramatically added, taking a threatening step closer, "I did my homework too."
Khalid calculated his odds. His cover was blown, his mission was coming to an end, and his mentor was locked up far away from where he was. They weren't in his favor.
"You stuck out like a sore thumb," Devak continued, "there's that... strange feeling about you, can't tell what it is!" he scratched his head, "but you actually did a number on my men, I give you that."
"Selling innocent people for money, is that what are you good at?" Khalid countered, his hands crumpled into fists, "you'll get what you deserve."
"Perhaps," Devak shrugged, "you know, ruining my business, killing my men, I can deal with all this. But shaking my image and showing me as a coward, that's what I cannot tolerate," he aimed his gun higher.
That was Khalid's signal to act. Knocking the weapon out of his rival's hand in a swift move was a bit easy as he used Devak's stunned state to have the upper hand on him.
Devak was more powerful than he thought. Driven by rage which was stronger than any weapon, he was tough and wild, using his strength to exhaust Khalid and take control over him, but Khalid was trained and compulsive and, with time, he learned his enemy's weak points and knew how to use them against him.
Wrapping a choking arm around the rambunctious man's neck, Khalid didn't hesitate to thrust his head aside and let it collide with the door frame, taking advantage of his dazed condition to pick the gun off the ground.
Breathless, he aimed the weapon at the kneeling man and, without reluctance, pulled the trigger.

Khalid dreaded that day, the moment when he would have to face the consequences of his decisions. He knew since the first time he set a foot in this mission that no matter how things would go wrong, there was no going back.
He didn't realize that this moment would come earlier than he predicted.
Shooting Devak wasn't the worst thing he had done so far. He didn't intend to kill him, it was only to restrict his movement. But that single shot blasted the warning alarms in the hotel, and there he was, hiding in a dark corner at the back of the place, grateful for the fact that the hotel was constructed to resemble a huge maze.
Khalid was alone in this mayhem, a single man versus an army. Kabir's image emerged in his mind, he must get to him before the news would reach the guards in charge there.
