Chapter 20: Slumber Party

Saturday, October 21st

"F/N, F/N, F/N," Shinsou repeated in a bored tone expecting it to wake me up. After his failed attempt he shook me awake instead.

"Whaaaaat?" I replied groggily.

"It's already noon, you should probably get up."

I sit up in a panic and immediately yell at him for not waking me up earlier. I get out of his bed and start packing my stuff.

"I'm sorry, but you must've blacked out or something last night cause you looked legit dead."

"And you were just gonna let me be dead without even checking??"

"Yeah well, wouldn't be the first time." He mumbled.

"What?!?" I reply kinda worried.

Shinsou walks me out of his room to try to get me out the door, but both of his parents are in the kitchen so they said hello.

"Shinsou, you're leaving without introducing us to your friend?" The man said.

Kind of recognizing the voice, I turn around, only to see Present Mic standing there with Mr. Aizawa behind him. My jaw drops and I look to Shinsou and say, "You were gonna let me leave before telling me they're your parents???"

"Yeah, I didn't want you to know 'cause it's embarrassing. Just don't go telling other people please?"

"You can count on me!" I said with a toothy smile.

"Oh Matoi, do you need a ride home? I'm sure mister sleepy pants won't mind dropping you off home." Present Mic offered Shinsou up.

"I had already planned on it," Shinsou said slightly annoyed.

"What? You can drive and you didn't tell me? How many other secrets are you hiding?"

"Whatever, let's just go now." He said while basically pushing me out of the door.

"Ok, geez bossy pants," I said with my hands up.

I made it home safely and waved Shinsou goodbye. As I walk in, I see Uncle and Nalani fighting. I try to walk by quickly and quietly to avoid being yelled at as well. Luckily, I made it to my room without a word said. I close the door and begin packing a bag for the sleepover that I'm going to be late for now.

Suddenly, I hear a knock at the door. I hesitantly open it just in case its the cruel man with a temper but to my surprise, it was Taki. I open the door all the way and crouch down to Takis level so we're eye to eye. "Hey Taki, what's up?"

His head was hung down but I could hear him sniffle. "Hey, c'mere little man. What's wrong?" I asked while picking him up and closing the door once more.

I set him down on my bed so he feels a bit more comfortable. "What happened? Why are you crying."

Finally, I got an answer out of him. "They're yelling again and it's scaring me." He said in between sniffles while continuously wiping his eyes.

"Aww don't worry, when they start fighting," I paused and dug around in my nightstand drawer and grabbed my old IPog, "I want you to plug in some headphones and just listen to the music. It can be really calming if you find the right music."

I handed it to him and he looked up at me and smiled with tears still running down his face. "Now no more crying-"

I was cut off by my piece of shit uncle barging into my room. "Where were you last night?" He yelled at me.

"I was with a friend."

"I don't care what you do! As long as the house gets clean but I guess both of the women in this house are useless when it comes to that. And the little brat doesn't do anything but cry." The old drunk yelled, making Taki hug me and hide his face in my chest.

Thankfully yelling was all he did. After the scolding, he left the room and Taki began to ball. I let him just stay there with me until he felt better.

I waited for my uncle to calm down before I left but lucky for me he ended up leaving the house. I took my chance and hurried out of the house after saying goodbye to Taki. I would've said bye to Nalani but she locked herself in their bedroom. I really hope she leaves him. I don't understand why she's stayed for so long anyways.

I finally made it to Mina's house. It took a little longer than expected because they were doing construction on the road you typically take. So, you ended up taking a detour. You knock on the door and almost immediately it swings open.

"Y/N! Where have you been?? The party started like 2 hours ago and you weren't answering any of our texts!" Mina, I guess you could say, greeted me.

"Sorry, it's been a hectic day and I guess I forgot to turn my phone back on." You sweatdropped.

"Yeah yeah, excuses. The others are in my room, go make yourself comfortable." She said pushing me down the hall.

I walked into Mina's room as she followed me and suddenly everyone's eyes were on me. "Hey Y/N~" Ochako sang.

"Uh, hey guys," I said while putting my bag down.

"Heard you went home with Shinsou yesterday." Said Jirou.

"Oh, you guys already heard about that?" I asked nervously.

"So what's up with you two? You guys got something going on?" Hagakure asked.

I was a bit confused by what they meant but when it finally hit me my face turned a light shade of pink. "W- uh well no, it's nothing like that! We just hung out yesterday and like snacked and talked and stuff." I stumbled over my words. "Plus, I don't like him like that."

"Calm down, we all know you like mister anger issues anyways," Tsu added. At that point, your face had flushed bright red while the girls laughed.

"Yeah well, what about your guys' crushes?  Hm?" You questioned defensively.

"Oh yay, crush talk! I wanna go last, but I nominate Momo to go first!" Mina exclaimed.

"Oh! Well, he probably doesn't reciprocate these feelings but I kinda like Todoroki." She said shyly.

Dang, that's gonna suck if she decides to confess to him.

"Alright Jirou, you next!"

"It's Kaminari..." She said with a quiet voice while twirling her hair.

Mina had a shocked look on her face but I didn't think anything of it. "Aww, you guys would make a cute couple!" I smiled at her. Jirou blushed at your comment.

We continued to go around stating our crushes. Ochako liked Deku, Tsu didn't really like anyone, Hagakure ended up confessing to Mina. Needless to say, they're a couple now. After that, we put on a movie and ordered Pizza.

We stayed up pretty late just talking about random stuff. We eventually fell asleep around two in the morning. Everything was good...Until I got a very disturbing phone call.

It was around 4 A.M and my phone had started ringing. It woke me up but when I checked the caller I.D, it was Mom. I ran out of Mina's room as fast as I could and answered. Looking back, maybe that was a mistake.

"Hello?" I asked eagerly. For a few seconds, it was silent but eventually, someone answered.

"Hello Y/N." They replied almost happy sounding. But immediately I knew that wasn't my mom. It was a man's voice. I hung up so fast, I almost dropped my phone. After calming myself down, I went back to Mina's room, powered off my phone, and went to sleep.
