"Is something bothering you, Ao-chan? You don't look so good," Yashiro Nene stood beside the seat of her lovely best friend whose head was planted in her arms. Yashiro was getting worried because Aoi hasn't been able to focus in class lately, which wasn't like her at all, since Aoi was usually a very bright student.

"Thank you for worrying about me, Nene-chan," Aoi sighed as she lay her head down sideways. "But I'm fine..."

That wasn't very reassuring, Yashiro thought to herself. She looked back at Aoi, who was absentmindedly clicking the tip of her mechanical pencil, her eyes sullen and lost in thought. Yashiro knew that something was obviously bothering her best friend, but her best friend can't even tell her what it was.

"Is it about work?" Yashiro borrowed a nearby empty seat and sat down beside Aoi.

Aoi hesitated for a few moments before she nodded her head. "My manager's been making me work in more shifts since we're short on staff - a week ago, two of our staff got injured in a fight, and three days ago, another one got into an accident and was sent to the hospital..." that wasn't a lie. They were short on staff, and Aoi was stressed from the work, but there was another reason why she was so sleep-deprived.

Yashiro patted Aoi's soft head. Just then, a loud voice coming from the other side of the classroom rang in both girls' ears too loudly. Yashiro and Aoi knew exactly who the voice belonged to, and didn't turn their attention towards the source.

"WHO WOULD DO SUCH A THING TO A BEAUTIFUL GODDESS?!" a boy taller than Yashiro, with reddish-brown hair, gray-rimmed glasses, a white vest over the Kamome Academy uniform with an arm band that read, "Student Council" rushed over to the violet-haired girl's side, knocking over Yashiro's seat by accident. "Oh, Ao-chan... if you were my wife, I would never let you overwork yourself!" he proclaimed.

"Didn't I tell you, Akane?" Aoi sat upright and used her hands to brush off eraser dust from her uniform. She flashed the boy an innocent smile. "I'm not marrying you. If I did, I'd be named Aoi Aoi. That just won't work out for me, y'know? Besides, I like working in the cafe." Aoi felt so sick of herself. Why was she doing this? Why can't she just say she liked Akane too? The real reason why she hasn't been focusing on her studies is because of Akane. She was mad at herself for rejecting him every time... she was just so scared that Akane will stop giving her attention when she becomes his girlfriend.

"Akane," Yashiro slightly whined as she stood up from the floor, "this is not a good time to dote over her. Aoi needs some rest."

"Oh!" Akane adjusted his glasses against the bridge of his nose as he came up with an idea. Akane lightly tapped Aoi's shoulder, asking for approval. "Say, Aoi, until you're not short of staff anymore, can I work at your cafe?"
