Hardin
"Are you guys ready for your bill?" the waiter asks me an Tessa. I can tell by the way he looks at her that he thinks she is beautiful. Better back off waiter guy, I've had her flirt with one to many waiters right in-front of me, it's not gonna happen again. "Yes." me and Tessa answer at the same time. Tessa goes to the bathroom so I use that as an opportunity to pay for the bill without an argument about who will be spending the money.
We walk out of the small diner and start to walk to the car. "What store do you wanna go to?" I ask Tessa as she stares out of the car window. "Umm, maybe target?" She asks. Some how I knew she was going to say target, she claims that this store has everything you could possibly need, of course I can argue about that. I turn out of the parking lot and I start to drive to target.
We get to the store and Tessa grabs a cart as we start to walk down the party isle. "I think we should get these." Tessa says as she points to a pack of black and gold balloons. "Yeah sure." I say and smile at her. We finish the rest of our shopping in the party isle and we move along to the food area of the store so that "people won't be grumpy from having and empty stomach." Tessa says. I swear she always thinks about the little things for everyone, and I love it.
As we move closer to the food, The memories of Steph and me arguing in target flash through my mind. I was so out of it, me and Tessa were going through one of our break ups and I couldn't think strait. I could never think straight when I was away from her for so long. Steph started to apologize and I thought she might have realized what a fucked up thing it was of her to do something like that to my Tessa. I felt so heated when I saw her, like I could flip out in front of everyone in store and not give a fuck about what they say or do. And I did just that, when she told me that Tessa was not right for me and I was just hurting her, she was right. But I changed, I had to change and Tessa couldn't have helped anymore than she did. The time apart we had was hell, but I became such a better person for myself and for her.
"Should we get these?" Tessa asks me, breaking my from my train of thoughts, while she starts to grab a shrimp cocktail from the fridge. "Perfect." I smile at her and she places them into the cart.
Next thing I know our cart is full of party decorations and "finger foods" Tessa calls them. We head to the front of the store for checkout when Tessa says she needs to grab one more thing. "What do you need?" I ask her and she try's to hide it from me but I know exactly what she needs. I smile and ask her "do you have a bloody situation?" "Haha, very funny." She laughs and tells me she will be right back.
We leave the store and start the drive home. "Do you want to ask Karen about the party or should I?" I ask Tessa. I know she has been holding back on asking because she still feels that she is intruding in everyone's lives and pulling people into her problems. Fucking Landon. I hate that he said that to her that day, she will forever have that in her mind now. "Umm, I can ask her." She says uncomfortably. "It's fine I have to talk to her about something else anyway." I say, trying to make it seem as neutral as I can. I can tell she catches on but she lets it go because she doesn't want to have to ask Karen.
We get home and I help Tessa bring in the stuff from the car. Before Karen can come down stairs and ask what all this shit is for I start to walk upstairs so I can ask her. "I'm going to go ask Karen." I say to Tessa and she nods. I walk up to Karen's room and she's not in there so I figured she's in Abigails room. I turn down the hall and start walking to Abigails room when I see Abigail on the floor crying, and Karen laying right next to her unconscious.
