I wake up, exasperated, gasping for air like a fish out of the water. Where was I? Where was my father? He was with my mere moments ago. Before the storm. No wait. I could still hear it now, I was on the ship. It was swaying to and fro and I was plagued with nausea. This couldn't be happening. This shouldn't be happening. I should be home in Crete. Wrapped in my mothers embrace as father comes home from work. I should be home.
I say this several times until I hear a screeching noise, like that of a tortured animal; which causes me to run back up to the deck as rain pelts down on me like a storm of bullets. Each hit causing me to wince all the more.
I look out to the sea. The sweet seathat I once looked to when I was in need. Once. But never again. For it had come back. It had come back for me.
