ــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــI stood by the edge of the old wooden dock of the lake, hesitant to get into the crystal water.
The full moon reflected on the water making the view even more captivating. The atmosphere here was amazingly calm and peaceful. Inspite of the darkness that overwhelmed the place, we had stars that shown so bright lightening the whole place up with the absence of the city lights.Dominic was already in the water swimming, I could only see his silhouette now.
"Aren't you getting in?" He said as he moved his hands forwards and backwards to stay floating. "Come on, it's nice" he added and passed his fingers through his dark wet hair. My eyes kept moving from him to the water not sure if I would like to feel the chill of getting into cold water. "Don't worry there are no lake monsters, I promise" he said with a laugh. Is he making fun of me?
"You don't have to laugh at me Mr. Amond. I'm not scared of anything, it's just cold ... and you're crazy, but I'm not that sane either" I said and jumped into the lake. The moment I hit the water was refreshing, freezing cold but still nice as Dominic said, I kept on swimming till my body adapted the temperature of the water. The lake is really clear and the place is relaxing I wonder how did he find a beautiful secluded spot like that. I need to come back someday with the sun shining just to see how it looks.
After swimming around more for a little and taking in the beauty of the surroundings I took a dive down the water. As I got back to the surface my now-wet hair was all over my face; I couldn't see anything. I bet I look like the girl from the movie 'The Ring' now. I felt Dominic swimming closer to me, laughing.
"You look funny" he said and gently pulled my hair off my face. "Do you have a hair band?" He asked while moving all of my hair into one of his hands. "yeah here" I said and removed the band I had around my wrist. He took it with a smile and ran his fingers though my scalp as to get all the hair out of my face, then he started fumbling with the tie and my wet-full of knots hair. "Do you even know how to tie it?" I asked after he took a little too much time moving my hair up and down. "yes, here you go a perfect ponytale so you don't have to look like you're out of a scary movie anymore" he said laughing.
"Thank you Dominic" I said smiling at him. I'm not sure how should I feel about this, but it was sweet and cute, he is cute.Dominic flipped on his back, facing the sky, his torso was half visible beneath the water and I tried not to stare at his well-structured body.
"How do you do that?" I asked."Do what?"
"You know this whole back floating thing, It just never works out with me" I try it everytime I swim, but I remain with failure and a lot of water into my mouth.
"It's easy, you just have to balance yourself with the surface of the water, come let me show you" he said and I came closer to him.
He instructed me how to do everything and now I'm on my back but he still has his hands on my back under the water incase I lost my balance.
"Just tilt your head up a little bit" I did and he let go.
And there I was floating!"Wow, this is actually amazing" I said, it's really relaxing and not as tiring as swimming normally.
"It is" Dominic said and just like that we were both on our backs, no talking, just inhaling the silence. We got out after what seemed like half an hour, Dominic was already on the dock. "Give me your hand" he said and helped me pull myself up to the dock. it was freezing! I ran to were I kept the towel I brought and wrapped it around myself after getting myself dried.
"Shit I forgot my towel!" Dominic said as he wrapped his hands around his body and brought his legs closer to eachother, he was shivering.
"Here you can take mine" I offered him the towel.
"But you're going to get cold then" he said still shivering.
"Dry yourself at least! You're going to get sick!" I said and handed it to him before sitting down on the dock.
I watched him dry himself, cold air was now hitting my body and an intense shiver ran down my spine, I hope I don't get sick from this. Dominic sat down next to me after wrapping the towel around us. It's getting cosy in here and I'm getting sleepy. I really like what's happening.Dominic's POV:
I don't know how it came out of me and I invited Hazel here to the lake. First I wasn't sure If I made the right decision in asking her to join me, no one ever came with me here, I've never told anyone about it anyway. I come here pretty often when I don't feel good just to take my mind off things. But thinking about it again, I wasn't wrong bringing Hazel with me, I need people, and she's great company.I'm getting keen on this girl more everyday, I can actually admit that I do like her and I think she might feel the same as she acts really comfortable around me. But maybe that's how she acts around everyone? I'm not sure, but I know she could at least feel a little thing towards me. I don't know if I want this to continue though, I see she is trying to get to know me more, and I'm really confused whether to do the same or step away. Not because of her, not at all, she's beyond perfect. It's just because of me. Maybe I can't do it.
Hazel's POV:
The sun was rising. The sky looked like a painting of blue, pink and purple. Stunning."I have never thought I'd swim with a guy in a lake till dawn" I said, my eyelids felt heavy, I say whatever is on my mind when I'm sleepy and that's definitely a bad habit I have obtained. But what's more important now is that I'm going to fall asleep in any second. Dominic laughed and said "I've never thought someone would join me here" I tried to laught but no, I'm too tired to do that. "You're really cute Dominic" I said and yawned before gently resting my head on his shoulder and wrapping both of my hands to his left arm "Thank you for being a nice guy" I said and drifted into sleep.
