Receiving my daily dose of gossip from my squad, I received the news I dreaded most after seeing that ratchet moving van parked in the usually noiseless driveway of the old Thomson home. My worst fears were confirmed. He’s back and something tells me that he wants something, but that’s not my only problem.
Satisfied with my choice of attire for the first day of senior year I turned from my mirror and strolled down the grand family staircase two steps at a time. Smelling the strong aroma wafting from the kitchen to all around the house. I hear the pounding footsteps from the little devil himself; I mustn’t have been the only one who smelled the scent of my mother’s famous muffins. My unforeseen annoying younger brother tripped making a beeline for the delicious raspberry muffins mum was preparing. This is when I took my chance and dove for one of the yummy treats, only to get caught abrupt by the smacking on my hand. Shock and horror filled our mothers eyes as she clutched the mouthwatering treats.
“Children! These are for the new neighbors!” Our mother dearest screeched.
“Who even are the new neighbors?” The little brat Jason asked.
“The Thomson’s are back!” She replied curtly while placing my muffins into a basket, “Skylar wipe that look off your face they are coming for dinner so you will just have to deal with it.” She added
“But-“ I was cut off by her insane new ringtone.
“No buts young lady! I have work until three then we’ll go shopping while the cleaners are here!” She said with a grin before answering a business call. You see I love my mum but when she has her mind made up she will not become lenient. This has probably helped her to become as successful as she is, she owns her own massive business and works nonstop during most of the year except weekends and holidays, while also going on huge business trips.
I frowned when I remembered that it was still the first day of senior year so I would soon have to see the dreaded school gates on entering hell, or should I say ‘school’. I heard my phone buzz as the familiar neighborhood came into view, I was on my way to Sophia’s house for our annual first day breakay. This tradition of ours became a lot easier when I got my own Land Rover for Christmas!
After waiting for ages to grab our drinks we started to head towards my baby and make our way towards school. Sophia started chatting about something unknown while I kind of dozed off in my own world. I mentally groaned as I saw the familiar car of my ex- boyfriend next to my parking space, I guess it’s okay because it’s Sophia’s space but I know for sure that she’s going to go rage at him, after all we do pay in advance for them.
“Skye! Aren’t you excited! It’s senior year!” Sophia screamed while jumping up and down in my leather seats while also fixing her hair.
“Yeah well kinda” I reply in a monotone as I stepped out of the car with my new Channel sunglasses on. I could tell I was receiving many stares and even some glares from the many hormonal teens that populated our school. Spotting the squad, Sophia and I strolled towards them as they ran greeting us with hugs. There are seven chicks in our squad; Bell, Casey, Tasha, Gabriella, Stella, Sophia and I. We’ve all been together since pre-k and I love them as my sisters. They start discuss the controversial topic of Tyler Thomson. Even saying his name makes me want to gag but to a hell of a lot of the population of our school seems to worship him and even my girls are starting to enjoy the horrible creature.
“Did you see him!” Stella gushed
“Yeah who didn’t!” Casey snapped not intentionally, you could say Casey’s the badass of our crew. Before this becomes any worse I give Sophia the cue for us to leave to go to our lockers.
The familiar ring of the bell reminds me that class starts in less then ten minutes. As I close my locker I hear someone clear their throat, I turn around to see who rudely interrupted Sophia. I then regret leaning on the usually un-owned locker to chat with Sophia.
“Ah If it isn’t little miss perfect.” I shivered as his husky voice filled my ears…
