The night was cold with a glint of thunder and lighting, this gave some indications that it might drizzle a bit, or there might be showers of rain which might even continue the next day.
Market women were in a hurry to park up their wares and leave to their various homes .Everyone obviously wanted to escape the heavy rain which was threatening to fall.
They had the same mindsets which was to get home, feed their families and retire to bed for the night.
The rickety bus drove through shakily on the dusty untarred road .It's mission was to pass through the slum successfully and drop off its passengers safely.
The driver and his apprentice seemed agitated because they had to drive on the potholed roads of Ashaiman .But they weren't the only ones who were worried.
Others on the bus had their own problems to worry about and one of those people was Effe; she sat through the bus ride, silently thinking of ways to get her early teened daughter Samaira admitted into a private school.
She had made up her mind not to allow her daughter to attend a government school.
She sat up adjusting her back to the single seat close to the window.
Her mind drifted back to her dilemma. There were seemingly too many reasons why she did not want her daughter attending a government school.
And if she had wanted to state all it might get whoever listening into a coma.
But the main one was the unseriouseness of the teachers.
The teachers either turned up for class late or not at all .The absentee teachers simply did not care about the welfare of the pupils, but about their monthly salaries and they did not try to hide that.
This also gave the children the impression that they could do whatever they liked and so they did.
The pupils, reported to school anytime and any day they wished, and left as they desired .The whole thing was a mess and she did not know if the school was still being run by a headmaster.
It was rumored that the former headmaster run off with the salaries of the staff and so they stopped attending classes altogether.
Effe wondered as to how these parents and teachers thought of this irresponsible act and If they had the eyes to see that they were actually harming their wards .
But they were blinded to the ways of life .if they weren't, they would have expelled such behaviors.
Now to her main reason, for her worries was on how to break this sad news to her daughter Samayra, that she would have to wait for yet another week to get admitted into school.
