INTRUDER. INTRUDER. IDENTIFICATION FAILED.
Red lights began to flash over blue and whites eyes. The white Eevee was illuminated like a shadow by the red light, revealed to no one in the small bedroom.
The metal walls seemed to close in on him from the sudden rush of adrenaline. Someone screwed them up, but he didn't know how to react. The mission to raid the Nightlight Dome was based on stealth alone and low risk plays. He didn't have a device to contact the others because the radio waves could be detected from their impressive technology.
Light had to leave immediately. But not empty handed. He hated having to do this, but he snatched a small locket with a gold chain in the room and went for the door. The white tiled hallways were lit with white shining light-bulbs hanging from the ceiling.
The white Eevee looked in both directions with a new fear of not knowing which direction to go. His memory was stunted by his adrenaline, but the footsteps coming from one direction forced his hand no matter which way it led.
He ran down the hallway with long, quiet bounds that he had perfected in case of emergency. Kids getting away for free didn't happen when he was an intruder in the heart of the law enforcement's barracks. For the first time, he faced serious trouble from both sides of the battle.
The white Eevee turned the corner. A Clefable was turning around, able to hear the tiny bumps of his footsteps.
Light kept it impersonal, but more importantly his appearance's secret. He jumped against the metallic wall to avoid his line of direct sight and right for the Clefable's head. A single kick combined with the move Trump Card.
The Eevee slammed the red card in between his toes right at the side of the Clefable's head and sent him hard against the wall. Light's jog broke into a sprint after he landed. The Clefable was likely only dazed because he refused to hit his head any harder.
There wouldn't be any easy way out back to the night streets. Light continued to run through the maze of the barracks, getting lucky with how the Nightlight Agents were moving in a way he could always move past without aggression. He was starting to get a sense of the direction they were all heading, and took advantage of it on his wild run.
Light soon saw a door that led into another area besides the barracks. He pushed it open with a nervous, slow speed and peered out of it. It was the plaza.
An expansive area filled with people of all different species in the daytime as they did business. At night, it was normally an empty yard with unmanned metal desks and computers, but it hard turned into a battle ground.
The tables were turned over to avoid the moves and long-range attacks of the Nightlights building up at the door. Light recognized the Heliolisk and young Shinx behind the table and darted over to them seemingly unnoticed.
The Heliolisk saw the white Eevee, but didn't have the peace of mind to acknowledge him properly. Light said, "They're gathering. We have to bust through now."
"Too many already!" Heliolisk replied. "You kids oughtta try thinking of a story for yourselves now!"
"It wouldn't work," the Shinx said. The explosions made him pause, but he managed to finish his thought. "Let's go!"
"The Overlord is here," the Heliolisk said. "We can't. That guy isn't normal."
Light listened to this part of what he said. He had heard stories about Kite August. The teenage explorer who rose through the ranks like lightning with his skills. But still.
"N-no one's coming t-to save us," Light said. "Let's g-go.."
"Okay," the Heliolisk said nervously.
Heliolisk stood up and gave a hard push to the table with his leg. It went airborne, and caused a delay in the Nightlights attacks from in front of the glass doors leading outside. The Shinx and white Eevee darted out from either side of where the table was on the ground using Thundersock and Swift as they advanced to keep up the pressure.
A Simisear and Tepig charged forward at them. Being the faster one, the white Eevee met their attacks first with red cards of energy appearing in his paws.
Eevee sidestepped the Tepig's Flame Charge on his back legs and gave a hard slash to his side that sent him tumbling back. The Simisear showed hesitation, the flames around his body dissipating into harmless embers that didn't even singe Light's fur.
Light swept the Simisear's feet from under him with a kick and caught him. With a heave, he used his whole body's muscles to throw the Simisear back further into the building.
The Shinx and Heliolisk had continued their attacks, with the Heliolisk using Electroweb to effectively finished off opponents that were on the floor. The last person left was a Crobat swooping down at Light with Poison Fang.
Light paused with a Trump Card behind his back, letting the Crobat bite at him. He leaned back in the last moment, making the Crobat miss and bite onto the Eevee's red card instead. Before he could release, the Eevee grabbed him in his claws and and slammed the Crobat onto the floor.
Light stepped away, and the Heliolisk used Electroweb to disable him before he could fly again. They wordlessly continued their sprint out the doors they shoved open to empty space outside.
The bricks were still wet from earlier rainfall. One last person outside was waiting for them. The Overlord had so much power, it was a wonder to even see him on the streets. But it was true that Kite August was special.
The Jirachi stared back with piercing, bright pink eyes and a serious scowl that almost made the group pause. The streets and other buildings were just out of reach past him.
"Cover me," Light said, "and k-keep running."
The white Eevee pushed his sprint and kept ahead of the Heliolisk and Shinx. Before he could get grabbed by the Jirachi's physic abilities, Eevee fired Shadow Ball from his mouth towards him.
The Jirachi manipulated the yellow ribbons on his back to slice the attack apart cleanly. Eevee lunged straight towards him with a red card of energy in a swing of his arm. The Jirachi blocked his arm easily with his and headbutted the Eevee.
Light was sent back a short distance, but lunged again towards him and went for a roundhouse kick at his face.. His kick was caught by one of the yellow ribbons and he was spun around in the air.
As soon as the Eevee landed, the Jirachi sent a Psychic blast on the ground that sent up fragments of concrete and destroyed the Eevee's Substitute.
Light couldn't help but be a little shocked at the brutality. The Jirachi looked around with surprised wide eyes until he noticed a line of uplifted ground where the Eevee had dug under him.
The group had already run past and just reached the point of being out of sight right when the Jirachi turned around.

"Just this!?"
The white Eevee was still huffing a bit from the effort of running all the way back to the abandoned hotel's room. He could barely pay attention to how he was getting yelled at by the Vileplume in front of him, especially with a mouse somewhere in the room.
The Shinx and Heliolisk were able to pay full attention, though.
"We only got out cause of him," the Heliolisk said, "and only had trouble cause of my mistake."
The fires of the argument fizzled out quickly after Jonathan stepped in. Before going back to his own gross room, the Vileplume threw the locket at the back of his head scornfully. Light didn't reply, simply taking the gold locket without another word.
Once in his room, he stayed in the cleanest area of right behind the white door just on the side of it. The rest of it was dark with no working lights, and was likely absolutely disgusting. He rotated the locket in his paws, feeling a bit calmer from how smooth is felt against his fur. He decided to open it lazily.
There was a picture of a Chikorita and Bayleef close together and smiling. He could feel the stolen warmth leaving the locket, piercing him like ice.
