Officer Daniel Ramirez:

"Dispatch it's Officer Ramirez, 69124, now going off duty. Have fun today guys" I chuckled into my hand radio, glad my eight hour shift was over.

"Ha-ha, Funny Ramirez. Enjoy the rest of the day without crazy holiday tourists" I heard Dispatcher Rain reply. I smiled, finishing typing up a report before officially clocking out. I quickly close my car's mobile computer, closing out of the CAD tabs. I place it in the glove box, pushing the movable stand so it's tucked in the passenger foot area.

"Finally, going home" I sigh, running my calloused hands over my face. Today was the definition of busy,Los Angeles is always a busy place but with the holiday coming up. It's a shit storm, hoards of tourists coming to visit or out of state people coming to visit family members. Regardless, for some reason everyone decided to create havoc. I got multiple calls about; public disturbances, robberies, parking violations, and teenagers vandalizing.

Starting the car back up, I start the hazardous drive home. Careful to avoid impatient drivers and pedestrians jaywalking. After twenty minutes of driving and much more before that I arrive home. What I call home is a small one bedroom townhouse in the 'Paradise Villas'. It was anything but Paradise, but it's cozy. It has its own little beauty, you just have to get over all the noise of the freeway behind it and the bustling street traffic in front of it. I park in my designated spot, quickly pulling myself out. Already reaching to pull off my vest and radio. I scramble to put my key in the door, wanting nothing more than to sleep.

"Oh! Hiya babe" I mutter, almost forgetting about the small dog in my house. She jumps on my leg, but since she's so small and my legs are so long she barely reaches mid shin. I quickly push her away, walking in fully and shutting the door. Quickly locking it I throw my keys, vest and radio on the hallway table. I reach down, picking up the small pomeranian. Her tail wags ferociously, as she scrambled up my chest to lick my face.

"Ok! Ok! I missed you too!" I laugh, letting her smother me in kisses before putting her down. I walk to my bedroom, quickly greeted with green walls and a big bed laying in the middle of the room. I still have yet to buy a frame, but I was happy with the boxspring and mattress. Taking out my phone I pull up notes.

' need to:
Buy pans
Buy curtains
Buy bed frame (queen size) '

I add it to my list of things I need to do. Chuckling at myself at how much stuff I have still got to buy, I've lived here for about three years already. Don't get me wrong I can afford all this stuff, I'm just too damn lazy. 'Oh well' I shrug, deciding to try and nap. I lay down on my bed, letting my head get swallowed by the soft pillow.

"Argh!" I groan, peeling my eyes open to grab my phone. I'm instantly awake when I read the caller ID.

"Lieutenant Dallas?" I answer, confused as why the lieutenant of the county over was calling me.

"Hello, is this Officer Daniel Ramirez?" Her voice is tight. 'They must be busy...' I thought.

"Yes, this is He..." I trailed off.

"Okay good, I understand you're off duty but we are short an officer and your Chief as well as Lieutenant recommended you. You would be working from now 'til 1am. I also was informed that you just got off an eight hour shift, but we will pay you double your hourly pay. We are in desperate need." My mouth opened agape as she laid out all the information. Calculating the hours in my head I tense. It was already 3pm. I would be working just about twenty or more hours, having started at 6am this morning.
