It wasn't a surprise that Mattia had a temper. It was quite well known. Though, his temper rarely flared but when it did it was hard to contain. Why? Well, because Mattia struggled with words and resorted to throwing fists.

Once, Ale and Roshaun had to pin him down when he was about to punch a hole into a wall during a fit of rage.

It was like a childish tantrum except slightly more violent.

The bell rang, piercing through the silence of his study hall, students rushed to stand to get to lunch. Kairi should've seen it coming, yet, he didn't. He shouldn't have to.

Maybe if he was more focused he could've prevented the outcome.

Kairi walked down the hallway to meet up at Mattia's locker with the boys. Usually, they'd meet there to walk to the cafeteria together for lunch. He bounded up the stairs quickly, ecstatic to see his friends, as he got to the last step leading upwards he saw Mattia leaning against the lockers talking with Ale. His heart fluttered as he made eye contact with Mattia.

Then he felt a hand. It pushed into his shoulder blade and knocked him into the ground. His knees ached as they hit the floor, his teeth clacked together on impact, pain blossomed under his jaw. He could taste the copper in his mouth.

"What the fuck." Kairi groaned, lifting himself up slowly and glancing behind him.

"Hey!" Mattia shouted, a growl in his words, "the fuck do you think you're doing?!"

A rough kick to his side was the answer to Mattia's call, he quickly scrambled upwards in attempt to escape the pain, a groan left his lips, shaking his head he saw three boys about Ale's height surround him. Alejandro and Mattia were by his side in an instant. Alejandro grabbing him and hauling him up while Mattia blocked the boys who surrounded him, he seemed familiar Kairi realized.

Derek,
his brain supplied,
I have history class with him and his friends.

"The hell do you think you're doing with Kairi?!" Mattia snarled, shoving the boy against the wall, "Huh?! Answer me."

"You guys don't fucking deserve the hype! Fucking fags is what you guys are." Derek snapped.  The other two stepped back as the anger radiated off Mattia in waves. Yet, Derek stood his ground getting in the younger boy's face. Their noses bumping against each other as they maintained eye contact and invaded each other's space.

Mattia's fist clenched by his side as he listened to Kairi struggle to breathe; with each wheeze it heightened his anger.

"Hey, Mattia, come on," Ale called out, "let's just go."

"Yeah, babe, it's okay. Really, their anger just comes from being jealous." Kairi wheezed, attempting to soothe his boyfriend.

Yeah, yeah, we should leave.

Mattia thought, but, a voice slithered back in response to his rationality.

But, they hurt Kairi.

"Yeah, leave." Derek snorted, "tiktok boys don't really have power outside of their little cameras. I think that shows with your fag of a boyfriend over there."
