"Wake up, dear." I heard a voice wake me up. I opened my eyes to see an old woman standing by where I slept. What happened?
I jumped up from the couch that I was sleeping on when I remembered what had happened yesterday. Yesterday? "W-what time is it?" I asked the old lady.
"It's 4:29 in the morning, dear." My eyes widened when I realized that I slept throughout the day. It's only an hour and half until the sun rises.
"Here." She said as she handed me a plate with toasted bread and a cup of juice. I placed them on my lap as she took a seat beside me.
I took a small bite from the toasted bread she prepared for me and I immediately tasted strawberry jam. My favorite. Strawberries.
I finished the food as well as the juice and stood up. She did as well before she took it from me with a smile. She put in on the kitchen and came back to head towards the door.
"Come on, dear. We don't have all night." She said as she waited for me by the door. I didn't hesitate on grabbing my bag and approaching her than asking why we're out this late because it could be dangerous considering she has an old age.
She closed the door behind us before clinged on me. She has trouble walking since her legs are already frail and weak.
We walked for a bit until I lost sight of the light coming from her home. It was still night and the fact that the forest were full of trees made it completely pitch black.
"Uhm, sorry to ask. But, isn't it dangerous since we can't see?" I asked her but she just shushed me so I immediately stopped talking.
"I can feel where we're going." Feel? I didn't bother to ask and just trusted her with my guts. Even though I have reasons for me to not to.
"When I tell you to close your eyes. Please close your eyes and do not open them until I tell you so." I couldn't see her but I know she's there since her hands tightened on my skin for every moment. Reassuring me that there's nothing to be afraid of.
I just nodded even though she can't see them. Maybe staying silent and not questioning was also an answer she needed from me.
We walked a few more steps until she stopped completely from her steps. I did as well when I felt her pull me slightly. "We're here." She said but I could still see nothing.
Is there something that she could only see by herself? Is she sick? Hallucinating?
A million thoughts urged through me but I decided to stay silent. "Close them." She told me and I obeyed. Her hands left my skin and I felt shaky hands feel my eyes, making sure if they were really closed.
The palm placed on them lightly before I heard her chanting words I couldn't make out of since I don't know what it is. The wind suddenly blew louder and louder but I couldn't feel any air hitting me.
Tree branches made scratches as if it was slapping with each other due to the loud wind. The moment kept on as the old lady kept chanting things.
I felt a chill down my spine when a bright light suddenly struck me piercing from the spaces in between the fingers that his my eyes. I had to squint since it was really bright.
Until it dimmed a bit and it didn't hit me in a way. The light was just there. Like it was broad daylight on a summer season.
The palm that covered my eyes slowly lowered until it wasn't touching my face anymore yet I didn't open my eyes still.
She told me not to open them until she said so. So I waited.
"Open them." A voice coming from my head told me. Only that it sounded like the old woman. When I didn't open them, it repeated much louder and louder until it almost became a rhyme.
I opened them to be flashed with bright light.
I wasn't inside the forest like a while ago. I wasn't with the old lady that how much I tried to search for her, she was just gone. And it was just me, standing at a place that seems like a village but much richer than ours.
I recalled the time that she woke me up. 4:29. It's impossible. It's as if it's 12 in the noon.
I asked a lady who was passing by. "It's 1:54." She said and my eyes widened in shock. She just looked at me as if I was being weird.
I glanced at everything around me and noticed that everything looked old and ancient. I decided to approach one passerby again. "Excuse me, what day is it today in May 2020?" I asked.
"May 2020? It's just 15th of July in 1945."
