"Monsters aren't born, they are made."
Astrid Petrova was cruelly betrayed by a man she thought of as family, a man she loved. So she ran, and left him and her family behind. She would make him regret crossing her.
Astrid Petrova was not weak, and after leaving she found herself. She was so much more powerful than him and he feared her for it.
They all feared her, the name Astrid Petrova was rarely spoken. She was unknown and it terrified them.
Astrid Petrova and her half-brother Erik Petrova were turned by Esther the same night as they Mikaelson siblings, they were made into originals.
But unlike Kol, Astrid did not lose her magic, instead her magic grew stronger, she became the first heretic. A original vampire-witch hybrid.
Her half-brother Erik Petrova was a werewolf. He had not triggered his curse yet, not until the days following. Unlike Niklaus Mikaelson, Erik Petrova was not bound. Esther was dead by the time Erik transformed into a hybrid, and so while Klaus Mikaelson suffered, Erik Petrova thrived.
Astrid and Erik stayed with the Mikaelson family for hundreds of years, until 1492.
In 1492 Klaus Mikaelson betrayed Astrid Petrova, the woman he was said to love, and Astrid Petrova disappeared shortly after.
Her brother bounced between Astrid and the Mikaelson's, but when Klaus daggered Rebekah, the woman Erik loved, in the 1920's, Erik Petrova disappeared as well.
After she left Klaus Mikaelson, Astrid made her name known in the supernatural world. She became the monster they said she was, the abomination that the witches feared.
Over those five hundred years Astrid Petrova laid in wait, she waited to rise from her own ashes like a phoenix, she waited for a new doppelgänger to appear, she waited for her revenge.
After all, Klaus Mikaelson had dared to cross her, and that was unacceptable.
