Izumi just kept on shouting and shouting, until her voice became hoarse.
She sat down by her haori, not wanting to put it on and enjoyed the night breeze.
Something or someone rustled into the forest behind her. Izumi stood up, hand on the sword handle, ready to fight.
“Who’s there?! Show yourself!”
Diva walked out with his hands in the air. “It’s me, Diva, the boy you met just a while ago.”
Fuka stumbled behind his brother, without Diva noticing. Izumi glared at him, “Why did you follow me.”
“Your brother was turned into a demon and he was killed by a Hashira wasn’t he?” Diva said, leaning against a tree.
“Tch, was it obvious...” Izumi scoffed.
“It kinda was, judging from the questions you were asking,” Diva answered.
Izumi sighed, “Then why did you follow me?"
“Well… I was kinda worried, even though you were being a complete sadist.” Diva chuckled.
They don’t seem all that bad… Izumi sat back down with her back facing him as she looked up towards the sea again.
Diva walked up beside her and took a seat down.
“Aren’t you mad at me after all that I’ve said?” Izumi asked nonchalantly.
“Well, Fuka told me not to come after you, but I insisted.” Diva said as he scratched his head.
Izumi remembered her brother’s death along with its cause and realised what she was doing.
She promptly stood up and glared at Diva. “I don’t need your sympathy!” Izumi shouted, “Everytime someone tries to help, it just backfires!”
Tears started to well up in her eyes as she tried her best to hold them back. Izumi crouched down into a fetal position as she hugged her knees to her chest.
Diva was looking at Izumi when he felt a tap on his shoulder.
He turned around and looked up to see his brother, Fuka. Fuka was giving Diva the ‘you screwed up’ look.
Diva thought for a while and decided to try and comfort Izumi, feeling bad for what he had done.
He reached out to her and gave her a pat on the shoulder, “Our parents weren’t killed by a Hashira but by a demon, so we kinda know how it feels like getting your loved ones killed and taken away.”
Izumi looked up, slightly confused but felt comforted by his words. “Thanks… I guess…” Izumi averted her eyes away, slightly embarrassed.
Fuka sat down beside her, “No problem!” He said with a smile.
Maybe I’m not alone after all. Izumi smiled back, pulling both of them into a hug.
“Thanks for your concern guys.” Letting go of the hug after a while, Izumi looked up at the vast and silent sea.
It was a beautiful shade of turquoise-blue. The brothers looked up as well.
The scenery looked as if it was painted by a renowned artist. The moonlight shone on the ripples of the boundless blue sea, stars of various sizes gathered around the moon.
The ripples of the sea reflected various images that were around it. It was breath-taking.
“I wanted to show my brother all this. If only he was here with me now..” Izumi smiled.
“He always enjoyed star-gazing, frequently bringing me outside to see the stars whenever they showed up.” Izumi continued.
“Hey, at least they’re up in the sky watching this with you!” Diva grinned from ear to ear.
“And they will be watching over you no matter where you go,” Fuka exclaimed, tucking his hair back to properly look at Izumi.
Izumi just stared at his eyes in shock as one was shimmering gold while the other was dull white.
“What happened to your eyes Fuka?” Izumi asked.
“Oh, my eyes? I’m blind on one side, but I can see with the other.” Fuka said, before mumbling something under his breath, “That’s why I was covering it up…”
Izumi nodded, before turning to Diva. “Say, shouldn’t you guys get going? Your crow keeps squawking non-stop.” Izumi asked, pointing towards the crow that was circling them the entire time.
Diva just realised the squawking and said a quick goodbye to Izumi before dragging his brother along.
Are they really nice or is it just all an act? After all that happened, Izumi still had a hard time trusting the Takashi brothers.
