"Professor? You wouldn't mind if I borrowed you for a moment, would you?"

You were sitting at your desk in the front of the Black Eagle House's classroom, reviewing your student's scores from the last test on magic. Coincidentally enough, you were currently grading Edelgard's test as the woman herself stood in front of you.

"I suppose. How long will this take?"

"I would say not long, however, I fear it might take quite a bit. Is that alright?"

With a sigh, you flip the stack of papers upside down and stand up. "Fine. Do you need help with something?"

"Not exactly," Edelgard frowned, looking away. You thought you saw a light tint of pink spreading across her face, but shake your head, believing it just to be your imagination. "Rather, I need you to sit in a chair and close your eyes for perhaps an hour or so."

You digest her words before finally sputtering, "Pardon?"

"I am sorry. It is such a ridiculous task that I was almost certain you would decline it immediately," Edelgard finally meets your gaze. She has such a determined glint in her eyes, that despite the part of you that longs to refuse, you can't resist.

"Fine, yes. I will do it."

"Marvelous," she smiles wholeheartedly. "Then, follow me. I prepared a spot in my dorm just in case."

As you follow the house leader to the dormitories, you proceed to pick up the conversation once more. "Might I ask why I'm being forced to sit in a chair? And with my eyes closed, more or less."

"It's a surprise," walking ahead of you, Edelgard speaks in a low tone, probably to avoid attracting attention. "You will see when I am done. I hope..."

"You hope...?"

"Please refrain from asking any more questions. If I were to explain it all to you, I would die from embarrassment."

Such a dork.

Crossing your arms for the rest of the way, you finally arrive at Edelgard's dorm. To make sure you do not open your eyes, she disappears into her room for a moment before emerging with a blindfold, gently wrapping it around your head.

"Again, I sincerely apologize for this. Would you like me to guide you over to the chair?"

"Ah, yes. You have my gratitude."

You feel her hand grab yours, and she sharply inhales. Your, ah, hands are very warm."

"Is that an issue?"

"No, it is actually comforting."

Edelgard hesitates before finally moving, directing you over to a spot and pressing down on your shoulders to sit you down. "I will try to be as fast as I possibly can, professor."

For a while, the only thing you can hear is quiet rustling and brushing sounds. Your mind was blank, with the only passing thought being theories on what Edelgard could possibly be doing. Your hands eventually tighten into fists. If you don't get back to grading papers soon, there is a chance you can get scolded for not doing your work.

"Oh, I apologize. This has taken quite a while, hasn't it?" You hear Edelgard's calm, soothing voice in the midst of the unsettling silence. "I can assure you that I am just adding the finishing details. Maybe another minute or so, and I will be finished."

You don't say anything, instead continuing to wait. And finally, not long after she had said those words, you hear the house leader stand up with a dissatisfied scoff.

"Allow me to take this off for you," she tugs at the blindfold so that it falls off, and smiles. "It's lovely to see your eyes again. In the final product they do look a bit odd..."

The scenery around you looks much like an art gallery. There are buckets of paint on the floor, as well as an occupied easel right in front of the chair you had sat at. "Were you painting me?"

"Yes, I was," she faintly blushes again, this time more noticeable than the last. "I will allow you to see it, but upon speaking of this to anybody else, I will most likely shut myself inside my room and never come out for the rest of eternity.

You nod your head and watch as she turns the canvas so that it is facing you. The painting is surprisingly beautifully made, a portrait of you; not that you doubted her talent, but by the way she was speaking about it, Edelgard made it sound like a wretched piece.

"I love it," you gasp. "Thank you, Edelgard. Truly, I offer you my sincerest thanks."

"Did I get the eyes right?" She queries, glancing between the painting and you.

"Yes, definitely," you praise her. "I'm shocked. I had a blindfold on, and yet you still modeled them perfectly..."

"That's the most lovely aspect about you, your eyes. I could stare into them and get lost deep in your soul," Edelgard states, practically demonstrating as she looks up at you in awe before backing away, flustered.

"I did not mean to make you uncomfortable in any way. Do not hold that against me."

It's almost as though you can hear your heart beating, despite not... well, having a heartbeat. "You really are something, you know that?"

"Is that meant to be an insult?"

"No, I mean that as a compliment. Like, really," you grab her hands again, and her face burns up. "Once more, thank you for doing this. Would I be able to take the painting back to my quarters with me...?"

"If it makes you happy, then sure," she nods, and as you're about to release her to grab the artwork, she squeezes your hands tighter.

"Pardon me asking another ridiculous favor of you, but can we stay like this for a little while, Professor?"

You smile. "That's not a ridiculous favor at all. Of course we can."

She lightly chuckled, leaning her forehead against your chest. "Haha.... your hands are so warm. I guess I'll have to paint you another day, yes?"
