Flowers Atop A Skull

In the meadow
There sat some bones

And if you listened

They would speak

And the crown of flowers that sat atop
The skull

Were the prettiest of all
But be warned

As they could be your downfall

The flowers while pretty

Were certainly quite striking

As they sat atop the skull.

And as you sit and listen

The flowers start to dance
And you learn why

You should never leave

A crown of flowers atop a skull

And as the days went by
It sank deeper and deeper
And soon enough
There sat the skull
surrounded in flowers

And as you looked
It stared back

It's unblinking eyes
And creepy grin
And you wonder if
It was ever friendly
Or if it simply tricked you.

So never place a flower crown
Atop a skull

For you may never know peace
Till you join them all
Then there shall be two
And soon the meadow

Was no longer a meadow
As it sooner was a graveyard

Than anything pretty
As the ground littered with skulls
Grew flowers
To surround the unblinking eyes
And the creepy grins

So never place flowers atop a skull
Less you'd like to join it.

Just sit and listen
And you shall see the beauty in all
