Was it all just an accident?

Chapter 3: Santalune City?

I woke up the next morning and found myself in the tent I was sharing with Shauna. She was still asleep but I quickly changed into some shorts and a black tank top with a dark green cardigan over it. I pulled on my sneakers and shoved my clothes into my bag. I rolled up the sleeping bag, which would conveniently fit into the tent when collapsed and tucked into a smaller bag. I took a hairtie from my wrist (Which I always carry around with me no matter where I go) and pulled my hair back into a loose ponytail. I went out of the tent and called out Fenn. She was sleeping and I lightly nudged her to wake her up. Her eyes slowly opened and she yawned, before starting the fire like I expected her to. (Fenn was adorable beyond comprehension but I wasn't about to say that out loud) I could tell from the noise in the tents that the others were slowly waking up. I had some eggs being cooked on a pan above the fire, along with some other food my mom packed me with. I got out a bowl and filled it with some pokémon food so that Fenn could also eat. I heard the sound of a zipper and out walked Shauna from our tent.

"Oh hey Serena! You're up way early!"

"Hey Shauna. I woke up and couldn't fall back asleep so I decided to eat and get ready to go."

Shauna let out a large yawn. "Its alright. I am kinda hungry though. I hope that's eggs you're cooking over there!"

I laughed. "It is. I'm hungry too so I decided to make us something to eat."

"Well what are we waiting for? Let's eat!"

Everyone woke up after that hungry and disheveled. I had made enough food for everyone and even brewed some tea to drink as well. We joked around, ate, and discussed the next gym leader and her pokémon. Shauna told us some gossip about the gym leaders that she heard on the news. The morning was enjoyable, and one of my favorite mornings that I have ever experienced. My friends were so laid back and surprisingly very fun in the mornings.

"So, did you guys hear about Clemont and Valerie? They're the same age but Valerie looks so much older...." Said Shauna.

"No, I haven't. Valerie does look a bit old to be completely honest, but then again I've heard that she's my mother's age." I Replied.

"Well, apparently Clemont has been seen hanging with Valerie really casually and such. I don't know for sure but they could be an item!" Shauna squealed loudly, waking up the guys from their half-asleep grogginess.

I laughed and then walked over to the tent to put it away. I pressed a button that folded the tent into a small enough size to fit into it's small bag, about the size of a large coin purse. I had barely ever used this technology, but it was suprisingly easy to use and fun to set up. The boys did the same to their tents and soon we had cleaned up our campsite and we continued our journey.

It wasn't too long until we started to get closer to the edge of the forest. It was around noon by the time we reached the edge and saw the faintest glimpse of Santalune City. The sun was high above us and even though the canopy provided plenty of shade with almost no sunlight, it was still very hot and all five of us were sweating buckets. I looked down at Fenn and saw how much she was enjoying the sun an the heat, being a fire-type pokémon after all. The others kept their pokémon in their pokéballs as we walked through the blistering heat. The city was slowly coming into view as we left the forest and were blasted with intense sunlight and heat. September was one of the hottest months of year, however it was getting a lot cooler as we neared the middle of the month and so on. (I like the heat, don't get me wrong, but winter is my favorite season before spring. Autumn is alright, but definitely not my favorite.) When my mother and I left to come here, it was close to the middle of September. The quiet sounds of the slightly dried grass crunching under our shoes and the silence between us was very calming and all of us were more relaxed in this moment together then the moments leading up to this.
