I wrote this story back in 2016 for an English assignment. We were studying Toni Morrison's work, Beloved, and we had to recreate a new work that demonstrates our understanding of how Morrison used language for conveying trauma.

This story borrows Beloved's storytelling style--and phrases--with the setting of the HIV/AIDS pandemic in the U.S. during late-20th century. I wrote a foreword on my high school essay saying that the setting of this story and that of Beloved is not meant to be compared. I also want to say that, since the focus was on Morrison's rhetoric, my research of the HIV/AIDS pandemic in the U.S. was not as in-depth as I would've wanted and as much as the issue deserves the novelty of.

But yeah, I wanted to share this story for me, too, to reflect on how I've grown as a writer!
