Around two hours later the day staff was leaving. Many of them didn’t seem too thrilled to know I was working the night shift, but that’s probably because they were tired of the animatronic’s constant replaying songs, so I didn’t think anything of it. As I went to lock the back and front entrances for the night, before my shift started, I decided to take a short walk around the place for fun. I walked into the main stage room and took a look at the adorable animatronics. Also, while I talked with some of the day staff earlier, I learned the animatronic’s names. I pointed to each one as I said them, “You’re Bonnie!” I said pointing to the purple bunny, “And you’re Freddy!” I pointed to the bear, “You’re Chica!” I pointed to the lovely chicken. However while looking around, I didn’t see foxy anywhere. “I wonder where Foxy is?” I ask out loud to myself. I looked away for a bit to look for my beloved was when I notice a sudden movement on the stage where the three animatronics were. When I turn back I noticed Freddy’s mic was to his mouth. “Huh?” I’m shocked a bit, “Did he just?” I stared at him for a bit and decided it was nothing. ‘Just normal functioning.’ I assured myself. Before I could head back to my security office I notice a closed purple star patterned curtain, there was a sign in front of if that read, “Out of Order.” However being the curious girl I was I pulled back the curtains. “Foxy?” I ask him, he was just standing there alone. “Why are you here alone?” I looked him over for a bit and notice a smudge on his fur and decide best to rub it off. So I took a handkerchief from my pocket and clean his chest off, but I was shocked to see what was on my hanky. It was a deep crimson liquid. Trying to convince myself it was just my eyes playing tricks on me I told myself over and over for a bit, ‘It’s just oil.’ Looking at the clock it was almost time for my shift. I pat Foxy on the back, “Well, It’s almost time for me to get to work!” I cheerfully tell him. Before I closed the curtain, I could have sworn I saw him touch his newly clean chest and peer at me with his golden animatronic eyes. I shook it off, “I’m just a little excited about this new job. That’s all-yeah. Y-yeah, that’s all.”
The night only got weirder after I got the scheduled call from the person the manager mentioned. “Hello, hello? Uh, I wanted to record a message for you to help you get settled in on your first night. Um, I actually worked in that office before you. I'm finishing up my last week now, as a matter of fact. So, I know it can be a bit overwhelming, but I'm here to tell you there's nothing to worry about. Uh, you'll do fine. So, let's just focus on getting you through your first week. Okay?”
“Alright.” I politely said to the recording.
“Uh, let's see, first there's an introductory greeting from the company that I'm supposed to read. Uh, it's kind of a legal thing, you know. Um, "Welcome to Freddy Fazbear's Pizza. A magical place for kids and grown-ups alike, where fantasy and fun come to life. Fazbear Entertainment is not responsible for damage to property or person. Upon discovering that damage or death-”
“W-What!?” I screeched.
“-has occurred, a missing person report will be filed within 90 days, or as soon property and premises have been thoroughly cleaned and bleached, and the carpets have been replaced." I was in shock.
“What did he just say!?” I asked out loud in horror.
“Blah blah blah, now that might sound bad, I know, but there's really nothing to worry about. Uh, the animatronic characters here do get a bit quirky at night, but do I blame them? No. If I were forced to sing those same stupid songs for twenty years and I never got a bath? I'd probably be a bit irritable at night too. So, remember, these characters hold a special place in the hearts of children and we need to show them a little respect, right? Okay. So, just be aware, the characters do tend to wander a bit. Uh, they're left in some kind of free roaming mode at night. Uh...Something about their servos locking up if they get turned off for too long. Uh, they used to be allowed to walk around during the day too. But then there was The Bite of '87. Yeah. I-It's amazing that the human body can live without the frontal lobe, you know?”
Just then I froze in my seat. “B-B-B-BITE!?” Now I was shivering, not believing what I just heard, things started piecing together.
“Uh, now concerning your safety, the only real risk to you as a night watchman here, if any, is the fact that these characters, uh, if they happen to see you after hours probably won't recognize you as a person. They'll p-most likely see you as a metal endoskeleton without its costume on. Now since that's against the rules here at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, they'll probably try to...forcefully stuff you inside a Freddy Fazbear suit.”
‘Well, at least that should be safe, I mean a suit like the ones at Sixflags right?’ I try to reason with myself.
“Um, now, that wouldn't be so bad if the suits themselves weren't filled with crossbeams, wires, and animatronic devices, especially around the facial area. So, you could imagine how having your head forcefully pressed inside one of those could cause a bit of discomfort...and death.”
“WHAT!?” I spring up from my seat but fear set me back down.
“Uh, the only parts of you that would likely see the light of day again would be your eyeballs and teeth when they pop out the front of the mask, heh. Y-Yeah, they don't tell you these things when you sign up. But hey, first day should be a breeze. I'll chat with you tomorrow. Uh, check those cameras, and remember to close the doors only if absolutely necessary. Gotta conserve power. Alright, good night.”
I put the phone back on it’s rack and slumped in my chair. ‘This, This is just too much! I could die!?’ My mind was going wild as I pieced information together. I remembered the job ad where it said “Not responsible for injury/dismemberment,” I also remembered the odd looks I got from some of the day staff when I told them I’d be working the night shift. I remembered how nervous the manager was when he realized a female wanted this job. The red liquid I wiped off of Foxy too. “The reason he’s alone..” I whispered. Just then my train of thoughts were destroyed as I heard a low creepy laugh. “He-hu-hu-hu.” It echoed. I felt the hairs on the back of my neck stick straight up as I leaped for the iPad. I felt my lose grip shake as I turned on the cameras checking out the surroundings and wasn’t too thrilled to notice they were all three on stage facing the camera. I just about had a heart attack as I saw Freddy WINK at me. It was just 12 and a long night was ahead of me, to say the least, I was no longer thrilled.
