Preface: 1 Year ago
Everything seemed perfect. I had a good family, I was popular, and I was a star football player. My family and I were watching TV in the living room like we do almost everynight. We were watching "Dirty Dancing", when all of a sudden the movie was interrupted by a breaking news segment. I heard a groan from everyone in the room. Bobby McClien, the town's news reporter's, picture came to the screen.
"Hello, everyone. We are sorry for the interuption, but there was a new law that passed through the government today. This laws states that gay people may not be married."
"WOHO!" I looked over at my dad. "Yes! Finally! The government finally made a good decision for once." My dad seemed really happy about this news.
I decided to speak up, "Dad. Your happy about that? How? It violates everyone's rights." I looked at my mom. My mom is really sensitive to others. I thought she would back me up. But boy was I in for a shocker!
"Honey, you can barely call them people. It goes completely out of nature." I was shocked.
"What?! What do you mean you can barely call them people? They are just like us!" I was up on my feet in just a couple of seconds.
Tiffany, the second oldest of our group of quadruplets, stood up to defend whatever side she chose. "I agree with Riley. They are people! This is just a bunch of BS! They deserve their rights!"
Jennifer, the third oldest, was quick to react. She stood on the side Tiffany and I was on. "Dad, Mom, I can't believe you are that insensitive. They have their rights too. This is just like what happened long ago with segragation."
Bryan, the youngest, was quiet all this time. My parents were looking at him like they expected him to say something.
"Bryan? Hoeny, what do you think? You opinon is as important as your siblings." I couldn't believe my mom was making him state his opinion.
"Um.. well I agree with them. This isn't right. It is just like segragation. Just because people were a different race they were outcasted. Now it comes down to people liking different people they our being outcasted? This isn't right."
My siblings and I walked out of the room without a glance back. We could not believe our parents.
