It's just a book about the states life and there affect on America.
Also not ALL of the states are related. Some are tho

Rhode Island p.o.v I was waiting in my house to pass the time since I had to do online work. I can't go outside because of corona, so everyone under the 10 state mark had to stay home.
I was the smallest of them so of course I had to stay home I was mad, but formally expected it. I herd a buzz at my door. "I didn't think anyone was coming today." I thought.
I walk down stairs to open the door. I open it to find Maryland.
"Why are you here in the middle of this disease?"
"First of all I have a mask on second I came to see you."
"Ok, you can come in but make sure you sanitize your hand." I say closing the door after him.
"Um- so what are you gonna do about your house it's Kind of a mess."
"What do you mean everything looks good to me."
"Wellllll, your wall design is kinda tacky matched with the "Celling fans" you still use."
"What there cheap and plus our grandma gave me this house I don't want to destroy it."
"I'm just saying we can renovate it."
"I'm not renovating nothing."
"Whatever you say princess."
"Is that all you came here to talk about?"
"Birdie, I'm just saying we can make a little money off the market for this house."
"Well, I don't want to sell the house."
"Okay, okay, okay, I get it I won't keep pushing you." He said as he went to my refrigerator. ————-
Some time after his visit he left. I went back upstairs to finish the late work I had to do. I walk up stairs only to find my computer open. I walk up to it and it had a SOLD symbol on my house.
"Did this bastard just really do that?" I questioned in my head the question repeating again and again.
"This was our grandma's house and now he wants to throw it all away. She was the only one who would protect us from នាង." I thought again and again and again yet there was no answer no nothing.
————- I'll do a little flashback in another chapter on why the house means so much.
