"Yes, thank you."

The first words that Choi Yeonjun ever said to Choi Soobin. Yes, thank you. It captivated Soobin from the start, even he didn't notice it. And Soobin subconsciously thought he had a new reason to go to school everyday.

*

Choi Soobin was a high-schooler and was known best for his tall height. People would ask him if he's ever been in sports, but Soobin honestly had no interest whatsoever in sports. He usually just watched as the other kids played things like basketball in the gym.

Soobin always had a sharp eye and noticed things that most usually wouldn't. So when walking past the gym after school, he noticed a boy inside playing basketball alone.

He watched from outside for a bit when the boy inside slipped and fell. Soobin's eyes widened as the boy tried to get up. Clearly, the boy had hurt his ankle. He got up anyway, and limped to the bleachers.

Soobin stood there and asked himself if he should check on the boy or get going since his mom might get worried. Soobin never liked interacting with others, especially people he didn't even know.

Despite that, Soobin opened the gym doors and hesitated but walked to the injured boy. This didn't go unnoticed by the boy as Soobin stood in front of him.

"Are you okay?" Soobin asked with just the smallest hint of awkwardness in his voice.

"Yes, thank you." Said the other boy as he got up and walked away. Well, he tried to walk away. He limped a bit until his ankle made him stop walking.

He stood there, Soobin's eyes burning into his back. Then he turned around to face Soobin again. "Um, do you happen to know where the nurse's office is?"

"Oh, yes but she usually doesn't stay this late." Soobin responded and the other boy's eyes dropped to the floor.

"Oh..."
"Yeah..."

It was just awkward silence at that point for a while. Soobin waiting for the other to say something. And the other hoped the same too.

"Well... uh, could you carry my stuff maybe?" The injured boy asked. Soobin felt a little awkward and thought about whether he should. Soobin wouldn't be that late to leave, but it was getting darker outside by the minute. Soobin had a small argument with himself in his head before deciding what just seemed right.

"Sure!" Soobin smiled a bit, and the other boy smiled back even wider. The boy let out a friendly, "Thank you!"

That made Soobin's stomach feel weird.

"Wait, could you also walk me home? I don't want to be too much of a nuisance but I don't know if I can make it myself." He looked Soobin in the eyes and Soobin felt his ears get warm.

"Oh... Sure! I don't mind." It was the first thing Soobin said without even thinking. Soobin felt weird about this, not in a bad way, but not in a good way either. it just felt weird. Soobin decided to just be nice for once.

"Thank you so much again. By the way, I'm Yeonjun!" The boy brightly smiled at Soobin. What a nice name. Yeonjun.
"Well, hi, Yeonjun! I'm Soobin!" Soobin smiled back at Yeonjun.

Soobin had a feeling that wouldn't be the first time he says that name.

"Let's go!" Yeonjun said before grabbing Soobin's hand and walking to the door, forgetting about his ankle, he fell. He brought down Soobin with him."Oh! are you okay, Yeonjun?" Soobin went next to Yeonjun, his arm on the others back. "Uh, yeah, I guess I just forgot about my ankle."

Soobin thought of a quick solution to this problem. "Here, put your arm around my shoulder, I'll carry you a bit." Soobin grabbed Yeonjun's arm and put it around his shoulder. He noticed that the boy's skin was rather soft. But didn't let that thought plague his mind too much.

"Oh, well- thank you." Yeonjun almost whispered.

It was a little uncomfortable for Soobin since he was slightly taller that the other and had to crouch down a bit to meet his height. But besides, that it was okay for Soobin, as long as he knew he was helping someone.

With Yeonjun's bag on his other shoulder, he opened the gym doors and walked out of the school grounds. "Do you live nearby?" Soobin asked Yeonjun.

Yeonjun nodded to that question. "Yes just keep walking ahead, I'll tell you when to turn.

After a few turns, Yeonjun spoke up with a question. "Soobin, are you okay? Your face is red." Soobin didn't even notice his warm face and that it had been red this whole time. Soobin didn't know if he was blushing or his face was red because of the warm temperature.

He hoped he wasn't blushing.

"I'm fine, I'm just a little warm."

Yeonjun nodded a bit before looking straight straight ahead and then to his left. "That's my house! Thank you Soobin." Yeonjun's arm left Soobin's shoulders and he grabbed his bag.

"You want me to walk you to your front door?" Soobin asked. But Yeonjun shook his head, smiling.

"My ankle feels a little better, it's probably because of you!" Soobin felt his face and ears go from warm to hot. And he looked down at his feet. "You're welcome! Just be careful so you don't hurt it more!"

"Okay!" Yeonjun looked at Soobin for a moment and then headed for his front door. A slight limp in his walk but not as bad as it was awhile ago.
Soobin smiled to himself and didn't leave until Yeonjun went inside his house.

Yeonjun could still feel Soobin's eyes on him, so he turned around before waving and yelled, "See you tomorrow, Soobin!".

Soobin waved back and once Yeonjun fully disappeared into his house, he started to walk to his own house.

And for the rest of the evening, Soobin had one certain boy on his mind. And so did Yeonjun.
