For the first time in months, I actually allowed my friends to convince me that it would be a good idea for me to get out of the house for a day. Despite the fact that they are making me attend a concert with them now. Well as they would say "go see their future husbands with them". They purchased this thing called limelight? Not exactly sure what that is supposed to be, but it better be an interesting experience.
There is only three of us in our friend group but we have eachothers back through thick and thin. Nevaeh is the oldest, she is definitely the mother hen. She keeps us, mainly me, in line and always makes sure we don't get kidnapped. Especially with all the sex trafficking going on in the world right now. Danica is next, she is truly my best friend and my side kick. We do everything together, well we did before my heart was completely shuttered beyond repair. Then there is me, Natalie, the youngin as they like to call me. I'm the outgoing goofball that once loved going on new adventures.
My last relationship was extremely toxic but sadly I was so in love with him that I couldn't even notice how much he was hurting me. We were together for a little over 4 years but he decided that he wanted cheated on me with a girl that used to be in our little group. Her name was Emily, that's all the information needed because fuck her. But boy was I lost for words when I caught them in the act. Ever since that day I haven't left the house for anything and I have been hiding from the world.
"Nat, are you even dressed yet?" Veah asked, knocking at my bedroom door.
"Yeah, you can come in." I mumbled back.
I began putting my hair into a messy bun as she opened the door slowly. She took a long deep breath after looking at me and left the room. I could hear her talking to Danica about my outfit but I ignored them and laid down in bed once again. Even though I knew Danica would be in here any second to fuss at me for what I'm wearing.
"Natalie Mae! I know damn well you better not be wearing sweatpants! It's 98 degrees outside!!"
See what did I tell you. I knew it!
"Dani, I don't want to go anymore. Can I just cry myself to sleep today. That seems like such an amazing idea right now." I mumbled sitting up so I could see her.
"Hush. I miss the old you and I miss having you by my side. So come on, I am going to pick out an outfit for you and make my sweet little angel look even more perfect." She expressed, pulling me up from the bed.
While making our way across the hallway to her room, I managed to grab my phone from next to my door. During this time I decided to just sit down and look up this band on Instagram. Do a little research ya know? And honestly they are not what I expected at all, they are ten times better! I remember Nevaeh telling me about how me and Zach were "meant to be" one day but honestly, he would never notice a girl like me.
I mean come on! My friends are literally forcing me to dress nice today because I'm too depressed to even take care of myself. Ugh! Let me stop being negative before Dani senses that I'm upset and gets worked up.
"Oh this is the one right here! Oh yes! You are about to be so stunning!! Gavin is going to regret ever hurting you!" She said placing an ugly dress with flowers nice to me.
"Dani? What the absolute hell is that supposed to be?" I asked, looking at her as if she was a crazy lady.
She laughed before looking towards her desk chair, "Oh that's definitely not the outfit! It's over there on the chair, I'm throwing this old thing out." She answered.
On the chair was a black tube top with some white washed ripped skinny jeans, matched with some black vans and a few necklaces.
"Well hurry! Go change!"
After changing in her bathroom, I looked at myself and sighed. Why am I even doing this? Nothing will fix my broken heart. I am nothing without Gavin. I'm just some worthless girl getting dragged along with her friends to some stupid concert.
"I'm coming in." She announced before opening the door.
"Oh my gosh! You look so beautiful bebe!!! Here let me put some mascara on you!" She added reaching for her makeup bag.
"Dani, This won't fix what's wrong. You do know that right?" I asked blinking as she "prettied me up".
"Hush! No negative thoughts! Today WILL be a good day! Keep repeating that till it is stuck in that pretty little mind of yours. Now go down stairs and tell Vaeh to give you a shot of vodka. You'll need it."
After her little pep talk, I did as told and went downstairs. I'm only 19 but what teenager doesn't drink every once and awhile? Well at least I do, maybe one or two shots will help me smile. My friends deserve to see at least one smile today! I didn't even ask for a shot. I just grabbed the bottle and started drinking out of it.
"Is it just me or does it look like our little Nat Rat is coming back?" Vaeh Jokingly asked Danica.
I put the bottle down and went outside to the car. I watched as Nevaeh walked out with her phone and my phone. I laughed at her being the mother hen she is and buckled my seat belt.
"Here girly, you are gonna need this." She said handing my phone back to me as she started the car.
Danica is always the last one to leave the house and even then she always manages to forget something inside so we normally just sit in the car til she is completely ready to leave. We have a while checklist and everything for her to go through. It's actually quite funny watching her think about what she's forgotten.
There was this one time where she left her phone at home and we dropped her off at the beach about an hour away from our house and she actually had to walk the entire way home because she had no idea she was ready. She was mad for about two days before she came to the conclusion that she "needed" the exercise even though she's the size of a toothpick.
After about 13 minutes everyone was ready for the 2 hour drive ahead of us. So my day has officially began.
