Alice’s P.O.V.

Have you ever concidered thinking about myths, about how all of them are based on so many facts? Take the palm of your hand for example. Can you see how all the cuts point to one direction? They say that if the two lowest cuts cross their paths, it’s foretold you’ll find true love. I realised that it was still called a ‘myth’, but the fact that my palm showed the crossing cuts, brought a smile upon my face. I was always a woman of patience, and I was willing to wait for this myth to fulfill it’s meaning.

I clenched my fingers into a fist, and looked up to perceive the beautiful sight outside my window. I was blessed to live in this breathtaking surrounding. I lived at the edge of the forest, which reminded me of my old home where I used to live with my lovely family. Not a day went by that I didn’t see myself as a little girl, playing with the leaves. I only wished I was still as ignorant and unaware of how dark the world could be. But I supposed it was some sort of protection to be aware. I supposed it was for the best, yet it didn’t feel like it was.

My deep thoughts faded as I heard a dull knock on the door. I stood up and walked towards the knocking sound and opened the door. A sweet, innocent smile and sparkling blue eyes greeted me.

‘’Mary, love! Come in!’’

Mary was my only friend here in Olympia, since I just recently moved here. She was the purest soul I ever met. She was there for me whenever needed, and understood me like no other could. I wouldn’t be suprised if she owned a pair of wings.

‘’Gee, Alice! What is up with this mess?’’ Mary laughed, and I couldn’t help but feel ashamed about the mess I had made.

‘’I’m sorry. I didn’t expect any visitors. And besides that, I was packing for Christmas with the family.’’

Mary nodded, and dropped herself nonchalantly on my couch. I decided to join her.

‘’So, when are you going to finish that song you’ve been working on?’’

‘’Sorry, what?’’ I asked dazed.

‘’I don’t think you realise how thin the walls between our appartments are, do you now?’’

I blushed heavily, knowing she heard me working on me most recent song. I’ve always been so afraid of rejection, negativity towards my hard work. So I figured that I should keep the whole thing to myself, in order to prevent any sort of negativity from others. I never regretted this decision, since the silence after each song left me satisfied.

‘’I do now,’’ I said blushful.

‘’I loved every second of it. I really did, Alice.’’

I remained silent. I never really knew how to respond to a compliment. Not that I didn’t appreciate them, which I did, but I always found it very hard to believe them. I was insecure enough to strongly believe that they lied to me.

I looked up to Mary, who stared at me like she knew exactly what I was thinking about. With her eyes filled with worries about me, she gently placed her hand on my shoulder.

‘’You are amazing, flower.’’ A nickname I earned, and loved.

She knew exactly how to cheer me up, which was one of the many reasons why I had grown to love her so quickly.

*Two hours later*

I said my goodbye’s to Mary, and was on my way to my car. I opened my trunk and dumped my two bags in it. While closing my trunk, I realised how cold it was and started to shiver. I thanked goodness I had loads of warm clothes packed.

The way to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport was a good hour drive, but thanks to the car stereo I was able to entertain myself just fine.

My thoughts drifted off to my family. Realising I was going to see them again made me the happiest person alive. I missed them to bits and pieces. My family was so caring and loving, I couldn’t imagine a better place to be. My family was six children strong, making me the seventh child of Sandra and Joe Espinosa.

I tapped with my fingers on the rythm of the song that was playing. Music always had such an influence on me. Whenever the music was mournful, I automaticly felt worse than I did before. Thankfully the music that was now playing sounded cheerfully. Exactly what I needed.

I got caught up in the music and sang along with the lyrics, not caring about any passangers witnessing my silly faces when I hit the highest notes.

‘’I feel like dancing tonight,

I´m gonna party like it´s my civil right, everybody get kinda awesome

It doesn´t matter where, I don´t care if people stare! Whoo!

´Cause I feel like dancing tonight!’’

How are you liking it so far? I try my best not to make any mistakes! Since English is not my vernacular language I'll probably make some mistakes along the way. Please feel free to correct me, it helps! For those who did, thank you so much for reading! Untill the next chapter :D
