We then go on to give our offerings at the place where Theo's body turned to ashes.

"Lylah, give me the orchids, Noami said you'd be bringing, darling" Aunt Zeela asks while searching for Uncle Jonah.

Oh bloody hell!! I must've dropped them amidst the fight with the Rogue.

"Sweetie, The orchids?"

I cluelessly look at her. Oh boy, She's gonna be mad at me now.

"Um..actually Aunt Zeela..."

"Ahhem... your orchids, Lylah" Ohadh nudges me while handing me some orchids.

I quickly hand over a few of them to Aunt Zeela, relieved.

I bend down to place the orchids at Theo's last place, as his amulet falls off my jacket.

You'd think, I'd feel grief or sorrow maybe. But I feel anger and resentment. This is so not fair. He said he'd be back for his amulet and now he's just gone like he never existed.

The ceremony came to an end after everyone paid their respects to Theo's last resting place.

"I sense something waiting for us, be on your guard" Alpha Michael, says through our mind link.

The Alpha nods at us, signaling us to be on our defense before he raises his hand into a fist and breaks open the enchantment portal.

The enchantment portal is our way of ensuring that only the werewolf species are witnessing the ritual taking place in the presence of the pink moon. Especially when the werewolves are their strongest selves but at the same time are the most vulnerable.

"To what to do we owe this unpleasant surprise of having 'The Denners' within our territories?" our Alpha demands.

Denners are part lions. They worship the sun like we do the moon and protect their territories finally in peace with ours. They are proud, arrogant creatures who think they are better than everyone because they hold up to a mock sense of honour.

"About time you finished your ancient antics" David Denner says while lighting up a cigar, as I see four more of his kind join him.

David Denner had acquired quite the reputation among the wolf packs and beyond, where the humans knew of him as a detective.

"State your business before I do something we both will regret" the Alpha threatens.

"Alright then, it has come to our attention that you no longer can keep your Dog's on a leash" David says while puffing out a smoke.

The Alpha growls "I will not tolerate your pathetic behavior while you breathe the air in my territory" he takes a step forward.

"My apologies, I meant no offence." David says while smiling.

"Have you got any legitimate evidence for your baseless accusations?"

"How about we take it somewhere private eh?" dragging out another puff.

"You expect me to invite you into my house with open arms, after the rather loud display of disrespect?"

"This is important business, it would be wise not to let your sense of moral cloud your judgme--"

"If you have anything to say, say it now or leave in peace" the Alpha cuts him off.

"Very well, have it your way then" while he nods at a blonde standing by his side.

"There have been killings, human killings in our forest." the blonde states "with dog, I mean wolf fur, marks and a distinctive scent that lead us to believe that it is one of your kind, from the night crawlers pack. It has been drawing a lot of the human's attention."

"That still doesn't prove anything. All I hear is a very convincing but a flawed hypothetical theory."

"Maybe, or maybe not" he says while tilting his head to the side with accusing eyes and a smug face. "BUT, if 'Our Pride' finds convincing evidence which could lead our very 'flawed theory' to be true, I think we can agree that War is the kindest thing you can fathom." he says mockingly.

"Tell me, is it wise to come into my territory, and threaten the peace treaty we have. I wonder what clouded your judgment? If your baseless accusations prove to be false then 'War' is exactly what you can expect."

He smiles while taking another puff "I think my job here is done, best take my leave now eh?"

He makes eye contact with me before he turns with his Lott and takes his leave.

"Everyone, go home. It's been a long night" The Alpha says.

The morning is chilly and gloomy like it's still mourning Theo's passing away resentfully too. The soil still feels a little marshy. Everything is so still, just like they stood staring at each other right before the fight. The Denners could not have chosen a better timing to show up.

"Make arrangements for a council meeting tomorrow" I hear the Alpha say to his beta Eva.

I enter my room and collapse on my bed.

I JUST FUCKING HATE MY BIRTHDAY!!
