Bus Number 34 pulled into the parking lot of Merri Oak High School. I couldn't believe my eyes. The school was tall and grand, with marble pillars and incredible landscaping.

"They renovated the school over the summer." Gigi told me.

"Well, they certainly did a good job. Why in the world is this a public school?" I asked her.

She shrugged. "Dunno."

All of the kids were gasping and looking at their school that was once rundown.

"C'mon." Gigi gestured for me to get up and get off of the bus. "I'll introduce you to my friends."

I followed her off of the bus and onto the sidewalk in front of Merri Oak High School. We walked to the tall, glass double doors and sat on a wooden bench beside them. Gigi scanned her surroundings, looking for her friends. Suddenly, two girls walked up to us.

"Nia! Ellie!" Gigi squealed, and threw her arms around them.

They both stiffened.

"Oops." Gigi separated from them. "Sorry. Forgot that you guys aren't the biggest fans of hugs."

"Who's this?" The one with black hair asked, gesturing to me.

I stood up and smiled awkwardly.

"This is Haley. Haley Quinn." Gigi said.

I waved.

The black-haired one stepped forward and shook my hand, smiling. "I'm Nia Abbott."

I smiled. "Hi."

Nia was very beautiful, with clear, dark skin, and light brown eyes. Her eyes lit up when I shook her hand, and her white teeth shone when she smiled.

I turned to the other girl. She had long, naturally straight red hair.

"Erin. Erin Bowers." She said, and smiled.

Something about her smile sent a chill down my spine, but I shrugged it off.

Erin, Nia, and Gigi were all gorgeous, and I wondered why I was friends with them. I did not fit in at all, mostly because I wasn't as pretty as them.

We were about to walk through the glass doors, when a group of three girls with straightened blonde hair pushed through us.

They were wearing matching tube tops and jeans, and they all had on deep red lip gloss.

"Who are they?" I asked, frowning.

"You see the middle one?" Gigi pointed.

I nodded.

"That's Samantha Keys. Everyone worships her for some reason, and the other two girls are Becca and Abbie. Becca and Abbie are the definition of dumb blondes, but Samantha is kind of smart." She said.

"Seriously? That's so weird. It's like a cheesy teen romance movie, with the 'popular' girls." I made air quotes.

"Welcome to Merri Oak High School." Gigi sighed. "The cheesy teen romance movie."
